Two new species at feeder!

E. Golde
last month

I've decided that the Hairy Woodpeckers daily visiting my suet feeder are actually Downy Woodpeckers, male and female. And now they have been joined by Red Bellied Woodpeckers, male and female (but never both at the same time), and just the other day, House Finches. NO BIRD has eaten from my Brome Finch Feeder filled with Nyger seed, grrrr. They are all over my Brome squirrel x model filled with mixed seeds and my suet feeders. For the first time, I have now noticed mice eating fallen seed (normally cleaned up by mourning doves and dark eyed juncos). I have now added scalding hot pepper flakes to the seed in an effort to discourage consumption by mice.
