in my z5 .. 10/1 is the target.. a week or two either way .. with a deadline of about 11/1 giving it at least a month.. and preferably 2 months before ground freeze ... your z6.. adds a week, at least to every number its actually.. too early .. rather than too late.. to do this job ken

I'm in zone 9a and my parents, who live next door, have a good sized patch of this ginger growing in their yard. It's growing under a sweet gum tree on the south side so they get part sun and part shade. The plants get watered by the irrigation twice a week and whenever it rains but other then that get no special treatment. They freeze back to the ground every winter but never fail to come back in the spring. Right now they are blooming. This is a pretty tough ginger that doesn't need any babying.

Zoffia No, it was not mentioned. But many leaves will do the same, without any help. Even just sitting on a tray or table - without any soil or anything else. Here are some leaves that were just waiting to be tossed in compost, on a plastic saucer, and they grew very vigorous roots and even plantlets. This is in less than a week - roots started to appear within 24 hrs on most, and plantlets in about 4 days: No water, n soil, no rooting hormone of any kind... ETA: But we know that there are few succulents that will not propagate from leaves, regardless of what is put on them, but from offsets. Rooting hormone is not needed for offsets either. I am not against using it, but why bother?

i'M PRETTY SURE THE REDDISH NEW LEAVES ARE HIGH IN ANTHOCYANIN, WHICH IS AN EXCELLENT ANTIOXIDANT THE PLANT MAKES TO PROTECT NEW DELICATE LEAVES. ANTHOCYANINS ARE EXTREMELY HEALTHY ESPECIALLY FOR THE HIPPOCAMPUS (IN THE BRAIN) AND HELP IT GROW, (CARRINGTON@POST.HARVARD.EDU)
