Thanks everyone for the info. I went to Blue Moon and Hughes Plant Farm. I enjoyed the atmosphere at the Blue Moon. The gardens there are beautiful and the sound of all the windchimes was very relaxing, nice gift shop too. I did get a Belinda's Dream rose there that had a Chamblee tag on it. I can't wait till it starts to bloom. I love Hughes on 69s just south of town. Very good prices and healthy plants. I got many bedding plants and Knock Out rose. I have a trip planned to Dallas next month and I have to drive through Tyler. Chamblee is on my list of detours!!! I am detoured a lot this year any time I see a plant nursery. It is addicting.

Hi Ginnypenny, I'm not exactly in your area but wanted to add my 2 cents. Here north of Fort Worth, I have sandy loam and my POB is in a partial sun garden and gets water every other day when it's dry and hot and maybe every fourth day when it's cooler like now. I overwintered it outside last winter with 10-12 inches of mulch and it survived. I was really holding my breath when the winter was so snowy, convinced that I had made a terrible mistake, but she started growing again in late June. Before this year she was a potted plant that was overwintered inside the house. This year she reached probably 5 feet in height. Pam

I live in the Dallas area. The Tyler area has a lot going for it. The cost of living is low, it is a pretty area with lots of trees, the weather is mild. The only negative I can think of is that I have heard from people that are from that area that it is cliquey. The people living there are very friendly, but they tend to stick togeather and not make friends with new people. I heard this from a couple people from that area. I was interested because my husband has also expressed interest in posibly retiring there. The Austin area is also nice, have you looked at it also?

Can't speak to other people's experiences, but here's my two cents given there are not many reviews out there for this company. Please note this is an edited post, as Plants Express reached out to me after my initial post. I purchased almost a $1000 worth of hedges (about 12-14 in total) from Plants Express. Two died within the first month (likely due to stress of shipping) and I received a refund pretty quickly upon sending them photos. A little over a year later, a number of them did not fare well. It should be noted that the ones that did survive are doing well. I'd found this thread and came on here to simply express my disappointment and share my experience. While I had originally mentioned the customer service was good and I took no issues with it; what I did not expect was the incredible level of professionalism and superb customer service Plants Express has shown. Not only did Mike the president of the company personally respond (see below), which I personally feel is huge in this day and age. They also took the time to track down my order details and reached out to me personally on behalf of Mike to offer to make things right. Needless to say, very few companies have shown this level of customer service and professionalism in my lifetime. It's a rare thing, and as such I rescind anything negative I had to say, as these actions speak volumes. I still take some issue with the website's user experience, but it's something that can be improved and does not reflect the level of excellent service Plants Express provides it's customers. Given Plants Express' commitment to providing superior customer service, I would have no hesitation recommending them.
