My worms are sick and I don't know why - please help!

Many of my worms take a long time to try to burrow when they are exposed to bright light so I know they're sick, but I don't know why. I have little bitty snails - many of them - in my bin and some of them have attached themselves to a couple of my worms. I read that the little ones aren't harmful, but I'm beginning to wonder if that's true. There are too many and are too small for me to hand pick them out - especially since they burrow quickly when exposed to light. Are the snails what is making my worms sick? If so how can I get rid of them?

They went from thriving to dismal in the span of just a few weeks - please help me save them before it's too late!

Thank you for all of your help!
