Just read a note about a GW getting some free plants from another GW. It made me wonder who might live near me.

I give away plants from time to time... if I knew who was nearby, I might be abel to direct something toward you.

If there were any GW'ers that lived close to me, I wouldn't mind sharing what extras I've got. Might be a good way to connect with a new friend.

Greater World Earthship subdivision 13 miles NW of Taos, New Mexico, NM USA. All our domestic water comes from the roof and is stored in 3,600 gallons of cistern storage incorporated into the berms on the east and west side of the earthship style home. All greywater is stored in an indoor contained greywater planter system that runs the entire length of the south side of the house (rubber lined 4 foot deep trench up against a non-stop series of double pane windows from east to west). The greywater is used to flush the toilet and the resulting blackwater goes to an outdoor conventional septic tank. The effluent or excess water drains into a EPDM lined contained blackwater planter that has trees grass and various annuals that grow like crazy when their roots finally hit paydirt (or paywater??) four feet below grade. www.greaterworld.org www.earthshipbiotecture.com

marciab10, we just got back our 2nd round of comments this afternoon, all from the Building Dept. (Engineering? PASSED! Planning? PASSED!) There are 26 comments to address and unfortunately, a lot of those comments are simple things that were overlooked due to the fact that our designer does not seem to be very detail-oriented and he did not properly address them the first time. I'm going to vent a little here and just say that he better not take 4 WEEKS to get these comments addressed like he just did this last time...or else...well, I don't want to go there yet. ANYWAY, on to happy thoughts...happykate, thank you and just looking at your view again somehow seemed to calm me instantly! :) sandyponder, I love your window color! They look very similar to the one I picked out called "ICI Brown" by Sierra Pacific Windows. I think ours will have more of a brown tone, but they look a lot alike otherwise. nhkate, I can almost smell the nature just by looking at your wonderful view! Thanks for posting those photos and I can totally understand how they really don't the "real thing" justice...but I enjoyed them anyway!

Well, I'll chime in, I guess. I'm Jennifer in Va...as my name states. I've resorted to lurking for a bit. There's a lot going on that keeps me busy. I'm 7 months pregnant now, and still busy schooling my 2 kids! I only get in my sewing room about once a week, rather than the once a day it used to be....just too tired to do more! Mostly I've been piddling. Collecting batik charms for a class at our guild's quilt-in in March, collecting red-white-green fqs for the Mystery quilt. I did make up a purse out of yellow/blue charms for donation to the raffles. My most active project is probably my English Paper Piecing one out of 30s prints that will be a baby quilt (Thanks Teresa!) I have the bulk of the blocks done and will start putting those together soon... byrdseay~Maybe we'll run into each other next weekend at Mid-Atlantic! I'll be there Friday & Saturday, trying to get into classes both days. (Guess I'll have to get organized for that as well!) Oh, and yesterday DH said I could get an embroidery machine for my 40th b-day tomorrow!! Now I just need to figure out if we can afford one!!..and which one! Oy vay

I do value the wonderful friends I've made on the forums and at San Antonio and south of Austin plant swaps. You might want to post this on the Discussions Forum to get more responses.

Another posting put in the wrong place. I'll do that. Sometimes it's nice to know if there's anyone close by with which you can direct some extra plants.

We might as well continue with the roll call... haven't done it in a long time.

I'm in North Flower Mound between Morris and 2499 just south of 407.

For those not around here, I'm between Denton and Lewisville about 3 miles west side of 35.

And if you continue out FM407 about three miles from Melvalena, you will find Copper Canyon.................that is where I live...........North Texas just south of Denton. It would be nice if this info were in our profiles so when a question is asked, we would know better how to give advice.

Well, I imagine that there are more than just me who's disappointed that there isn't anyone who lives close enough that I could exchange plants with.
