"Marmalade Skies" roses are pink/white instead of orange!
Comments (7)GreenDreamhome, I got my MS to brighten up a spot that is a bit too shady for most roses to bloom well, and it does the trick for that purpose, but I really wouldn't call it a true orange. My best true orange rose is Livin' Easy. You might want to check that one out. It's an absolute bloom machine and very carefree here. The bright gold flowers (and the white ones) around the MS rose are narrow leaf zinnias...they prefer full sun, but bloom well for me in part shade, too, and produce plenty of seeds in the fall to replant for the next season. It's described as a "shrub/climber" although mine grows as a tall, upright shrub to about 5' (I trim it quite heavily in the spring so it would grow taller if I let it). It stays upright - the canes are not lax at all. The flowers are large, double and bright apricot/orange - very eye-catching. It doesn't seem to be bothered by any disease problems here and blackspot is a big problem here where it's hot and humid. It's listed as being hardy to zone 5. Incredibly, I don't have a picture of it but you can look it up on Helpmefind. I also have Easy Living, which I like very much although mine is a small shrub. Heaven on Earth is a shrub that produces beautiful huge pastel apricot blooms. Perhaps my favorite in an orange/apricot color is Pat Austin, which does very well here....See MorePink, Yellow, White, Red & Orange
Comments (5)Hello, I can't believe with all the thousands of roses people can identify them. - Secret and Moonstone look so close. Thank you Northspruce. I will take more pictures of this one to try and narrow it down. I am going to make a point of taking more detailed pictures of all the roses this year. Since I have pruned them, composted them, fertilized them and mulched with bark - they are all doing so much better this year. I have about 30 or so planted along the fence and I don't have name for any of them. It would be nice to have a stake alongside each noting the name as I am sure people will be asking what the varieties are. I believe most are hybrid teas. I did transplant three next to the house to complete the fenceline planting. I also planted one Angel Face climber - but the blossom is so pale I am not sure it is correct - since it faces west I am wondering if it is fading due to sunlight. I will have to take a picture of this one too to submit to all of you experts. thanks again. Linda...See MoreOrange roses turned pink!
Comments (10)Roses that are in that color range are so because they express pink AND yellow together. If you observe your pink OR yellow roses through the season, you'll notice how the intensity of their colors will vary -- and not necessarily varying together at the same time. In other words, your yellows may be intense while your pinks may seem faded. This is what's going on with your peachy-apricoty roses -- the yellow is either paler than usual or fading faster than usual. My 'Abraham Darby' will range from pale-edged warm pink through to a color I think of as "frosted cantaloupe". Others falling in this range of colors are similarly mutable: 'Golden Buddha' ranges from the color of orange juice to "frosted cantaloupe"; 'Tamora' ranges from ivory-buff through peach; even 'Golden Celebration' isn't always "golden" -- sometimes the pink seems absent, and it's more yellow. :-) ~Christopher...See Morerosyjennifer
