Need advice for transplanting tree seedlings.

Last year I collected lots of bags of leaves from the homes around where I teach. Often during the fall I would bring a truck load home each day. Since I live in the country I would just throw them in a big pile when I got home. Well I used those leaves as mulch this spring and with all the rain a lot of seedings came up. I protected some of them and would like to transplant them into the yard and not let them grow in the garden. Some of them are 2 ft or more already. I have some pecan, maple and elm. When and how would be the best way to transplant them. I also have my eye on some Redbud that are in my pasture. I would like to transplant them up by the house, of course they are older-probaly 3-4 years old.
