This year, I would like to avoid this. Last year, I created my first garden and had the biggest squash bug problem. I hear they overwinter here in KY, so I know I"ll have the problem this year. Well, this year, I am building a raised bed in the spot where my garden was last year. This weekend, actually. Do these bugs like, overwinter where you had the problem? Like go in your dirt for the winter? Are they going to come up out of my garden and wreak havoc on my stuff? And what can be done to prevent or at least lessen the presence of this disgusting bug which smells like rotten bananas when you step on them? I refuse to avoid planting cucurbits, they are my favorites to grow. I have Sevin spray that you attach to the hose, if that helps. I was going to make the attempt to grow vertically, will that make a difference, since there wouldn't be as many places for them to hide?
