ID'ing a tree/shrub

I'm going to sound like a total putz with this question. But I have been trying to ID this plant for the last five years, with no luck.

I have a small tree blooming now that smells heavenly. Like a combination of lilac and honeysuckle. Planted by the previous owners of my property over 15 years ago.

It's multi-branched, reaching out and cascading over a hillside. Light colored bark. Open airy canopy. It's about 10 ft tall, but broad and very open. Definately tree shaped, but shrub sized.

The slender leaves are about an 2 inches long, 1/2 wide. Dark on top, light on bottom.

The blossoms are tiny four-petal white stars with yellow centers (about 1/8 inch in diameter), forming from the base of the leaves. They hang downward in small clusters of 4 to 6 flowers each. They are very very fragrant.

I have consulted various books and cant ID this thing.

Can anyone give me some suggestions?

If I've not given enough info, let me know.
