hundreds of these seedlings everywhere
Comments (5)Thanks for your input. We've lived here over 30 years and I have not seen these before, and especially not in the numbers like these. My lawn is covered with them, and they are in every other little space, every garden, cracks in the sidewalk, etc. Must have been an especially good winter or spring (condition) for these to sprout like this. I love maple trees, but not THESE many!...See MoreOak everywhere ~ is it odd to choose Maple flooring? what finish?
Comments (37)laurie: Thanks so, so much! Got me back to Image Searching and I feel a lot better : ) roseabbey: WOW, how beautiful is that! You're talented! You are right about me having a lot of windows so after seeing your floors being darker I am not going to fret about that now, and I can see how accessorizing or complimenting dark w/lighter aspects can also pull everything together, so, thank you so much for your input. RE: Board direction, I sounds like it basically boils down to two choices... 1. Run the boards from front door to sliding doors (seems like the general concensus)=hall with boards side to side. or 2. Run the boards side to side (left to right) from front door to sliding doors=hall with boards running longways, like roseabbeys, who is right, it does not seem bowlingalleyish at all to me. I suppose an option is to have a seam where the hallway starts out from the foyer, but, I can't imagine that. Found this not-so-great picture that's shadowed bad but you can sort of see the hall that turns right past that temporary cabinet on the right. My possible plan would be after laying a new floor to maybe have a rug runner in foyer and maybe a matching one for under the dining table? Opinions welcome!...See MoreNew seedling popping up everywhere - ID help!
Comments (19)if you look in the hosta forum.. you will find that maples are the most hated trees to grow under ... it is a super competitor for water.. and will choke out.. most of anything but the most aggressive 'weed' plants ... bishops weed is one of those ... able to grow and thrive where nothing else will i would suggest you observe this year ... and make a decision in fall ... i wouldnt want you destroying perhaps your only option. only to find.. nothing else will grow there ... btw .. that doesnt look like norway maple bark ....???? but if you do decide you want to go in another direction ... do NOT dig that stuff up ... kill it with spray ... every severed maple root.. will be replaced by 2 or 3 new water sucking roots ... making the problem even worse ... trust me.. been there.. done that ... this just might be .. the perfect application of bishop weed... which actually.. hated as it is.. a nice looking plant .... the right place.. for the right plant.... ken...See MoreSeedlings everywhere - name of tree please?
Comments (2)This isn't a seedling. It looks like a shrub or tree sapling or sucker. Can you show the whole plant as well as close ups and include something to give a sense of scale?...See Moreyork_rose
