Do you have a yard, rooftop, deck or other space in Boston that you could garden in? Are you interested in learning the secrets and how-to of urban gardening? Do you want to work with other gardeners to make Boston greener? If yes, youÂre an ideal candidate for the MUGatHOME (Master Urban Gardener at Home) class offered by Boston Natural Areas Network.

The MUGatHOME program covers how plants grow, garden design, organic lawn care, urban soil remediation, how to choose and care for plants, safe pest and disease management, and more. The program will provide participants with the knowledge to plan and maintain their own gardens and help other gardeners.

The program is for Boston residents who want to make the most of the outdoors by designing and maintaining their garden or planting spaces for maximum results. The free classes are from 10:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. from April 4th through May 9th (6 Saturdays).

MUGatHOME is a "learn and serve" program. Participants in the no-fee program are expected to volunteer one hour for each hour of class (40 hours) within the following two years by helping other gardeners and at Boston gardening events, creating a new group of urban stewards who are informed and willing to help to make Boston a greener city.

For more information or an application, visit www.bostonnatural.org. Applications are due by March 2nd, 2009.
