should I prune paperbark maple seedling?

I have a paperbark maple seedling that is 1 year old and about 1 foot tall. It has a single trunk. I have been reading posts about multi-stemmed paperbark maple trees. I know the bark is the main reason to grow these and more stems would display more bark. Should I pinch out the top of my seedling to create 2 stems? Should I pinch it out at the top or go lower to a few inches from the base. I don't want to kill or harm my seedling as it is so hard to get the seeds to germinate in the first place. What do you think prune or let it grow? Thanks! Karen
