Help looking for recipes???

Ok, I just recently joined this forum and I am loving all the canning info. However, I can not find the actual recipes anywhere?? The one in particular I am looking for is the apple pie jam recipe. I have searched in the search box and the recipe exchange forum and it comes up with all the posts for it, but no recipe, please help me out. Where are all the recipes??? Thanks!

Linda Lou's Apple Pie Jam
4 cups tart apples, peeled and finely chopped
2 tablespoons lemon juice
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon ground allspice
4 cups sugar
1 cup firmly packed dark brown sugar
1 box pectin
1/2 teaspoon butter

Add water to chopped apples to measure 4 cups. Place apples and water into large, heavy saucepan. Stir in lemon juice, cinnamon and allspice.

Measure sugars. Stir pectin into fruit. Add butter. Bring mixture to full rolling boil on high heat, stirring constantly. Quickly stir in both sugars. Return to full rolling boil and boil exactly 1 minute, stirring constantly. Remove from heat. Skim off any foam with metal spoon.

Ladle quickly into hot, clean jars, leaving 1/4" headspace. Wipe jar rims and threads. Cover with two-piece lids. Screw bands on finger tight. Process in boiling water bath for 10 minutes.

The search function here can be cranky at best. It's almost faster to google 'recipe apple pie jam' and look for the GW listing :) Imagine, faster to take the long way around.

There would probably be a slight change in the baking time so keep a close eye on it. Jane IRISH SODA BREAD - A perennial favorite on both sides of the Atlantic, this raisiny bread makes fine, fragrant toast. 4 cups bread flour 1 tablespoon double-acting baking powder 1 teaspoon salt 3/4 teaspoon baking soda 1 cup raisins or dried currants, rinsed in hot water and patted dry 1 tablespoon caraway seeds 2 cups buttermilk Into a large bowl sift together the flour, the baking powder, the salt, and the baking soda and stir in the raisins and the caraway seeds. Add the buttermilk and stir the mixture until it forms a dough. Turn the dough out onto a well-floured surface and knead it for 1 minute. Halve the dough, with floured hands shape each half into a round loaf, and transfer the loaves to a lightly greased baking sheet. Cut an X 1/4 inch deep across the tops of the loaves with a sharp knife. Bake the loaves in the middle of a preheated 350Â°F. oven for 45 to 55 minutes, or until a tester comes out clean. POTATO PANCAKES (German) 3 eggs 3 medium potatoes (grated) 1 medium onion (finely grated) 2 tablespoons flour 1 teaspoon lemon juice 1 teaspoon salt 1/2 teaspoon pepper Vegetable oil for frying Sour cream garnish I grate the potatoes in my kitchen machine with the grater attachment. Then I whirl the onion separately with 1 of the eggs with the blade until you can't see any pieces of onion. Then I add the potatoes back in the mixer bowl. Beat the eggs well and add to the potatoes and onions. Stir and add add flour, salt, pepper and juice. Heat oil in the pan. These are cooked in a hot pan or griddle like regular pancakes and cooked in small or large pancakes--small would be good for your party. Makes about 12 big or 24 small pancakes If made ahead you can reheat them in a single layer in a microwave or in the oven. Top with sour cream after heating One of my favorites--enjoy

Easy Chow Mein 6 ounces chow mein noodles or thin spaghetti 1 cup chicken broth 2 teaspoons cornstarch 1/2 teaspoon salt 16 ounces cooked chicken 1 teaspoon olive oil 1 onion, chopped 1/4 teaspoon ginger 3 garlic cloves, minced 1 cup frozen mixed vegetables 1.Cook noodles according to directions. Drain and set aside. 2.In a small dish, combine the broth, cornstarch and salt; set aside. 3.Heat the oil in a large skillet or wok, then add the onion, ginger and garlic. Stir-fry until you can smell it, about 1 minute. Add the veggies, until thawed, maybe 4 minutes. 4.Add the chicken and broth. Cook, stirring constantly, until the mixture boils and thickens, about 2 minutes. Remove from heat. 5.Stir the veggie mixture into the noodles. Easy Vegetable Chow Mein 1 cup vegetable broth or chicken broth (from 32-oz carton) 2 tablespoons cornstarch 2 tablespoons oyster sauce 1/4 teaspoon red pepper sauce 2 tablespoons vegetable oil 2 garlic cloves, finely chopped 1 bag (1 lb) frozen snap peas, carrots, onions and mushrooms 2 1/2 cups coleslaw mix 4 cups chow mein noodles 1. Mix broth, cornstarch, oyster sauce and pepper sauce; set aside. 2. Heat oil in 10-inch nonstick skillet over medium-high heat. Cook garlic and frozen vegetables in oil about 5 minutes, stirring frequently, until vegetables are crisp-tender. 3. Stir in coleslaw mix and broth mixture. Cook and stir 1 1/2 minutes. Serve over noodles. Chicken Lo Mein Recipe 1 can (20 ounces) unsweetened pineapple chunks 1 pound boneless skinless chicken breasts, cut into 1-inch cubes 2 garlic cloves, minced 1 tablespoon minced fresh gingerroot 3 tablespoons canola oil, divided 2 medium carrots, julienned 1 medium green pepper, julienned 4 ounces spaghetti, cooked and drained 3 green onions, sliced 1 tablespoon cornstarch 1/3 cup soy sauce Drain pineapple, reserving 1/3 cup juice (discarding remaining juice or save for another use); set pineapple aside. In a large skillet, cook the chicken, garlic and ginger over medium heat in 2 tablespoons oil for 6 minutes or until chicken is no longer pink. Stir in the carrots, green pepper and pineapple. Cover and cook for 2-3 minutes or until vegetables are crisp-tender. Stir in spaghetti and onions. In a small bowl, combine the cornstarch, soy sauce, reserved pineapple juice and remaining oil until smooth. Gradually add to chicken mixture. Welcome to the forum!

Because we are a discussion forum, not an official "info web site," and some of us have been chatting here with each other for a long time, sometimes there are conversations that follow up on older ones (some years older!), which is supposed to be easily solveable for the newcomer by a search, but the search function here isn't very reliable.

You can use Google's search function, and tick the box telling Google to only look for threads on this site, and it works better.

And you can also always ask. Once in a while someone may grumble that "it's been discussed before" and tell you to "do a search" but just ignore them. There will always be someone who can take a moment to help you out.

BTW, the Apple Pie Jam, and many, many other recipes, and good basic canning info is in the Ball Blue Book, which is a great, inexpensive basic for every canner.

Hi,

Welcome to the forum. I'm new to canning also, and have found the insight from folks on this site invaluable. Last year, I was using the search function at the top of the forum page where it just says Search and you type in what you want. It would bring up millions of things from all forums. I finally figured out this year that if you scroll down to the bottom of the page, there is another search where you can check the button that says search from this forum. Then, you only get stuff from the harvest forum, or whatever other forum you may happen to be on. I thought I'd let you know this in case you were searching from the top search. Once I used the bottom one, I got a lot more focused info on what I was looking for!
Also, I made the Apple Pie Jam for the first time this weekend and it was great! very easy and tasty.

Welcome!! The "apple pie jam" is amazing!! Let us know how it goes for you!! I finally learned how to use the "search" thingy at the bottom of the page after several years of being here!!
