I saw you asked "Is the sugar apple the only fruit you have growing?". I think i answered it already, but not completely.

I asked what fruits you grow in Florida. I got many answeres. I can now tell what fruits i grow. I have in pot sugar apple and kepel. I try to grow from seed Beach cherry, Strawberry tree and Biriba. Those have not germinated.

We don't have much peach trees for sale here in Finland, i have looked in Italy if someone could send me peach tree they have good varieties. I think early ripening peach tree would be good so peach tree could have time for hardening for winter. I found shop who could send me peach tree and have good peach variety. I bought White Lady peach variety. White Lady peach is from Zaiger genetics, California U.S.A. It is from year 1986 i have seen on internet. White Lady is white flesh peach. Adams county nursery recommended it for zone 5 when i asked about it. Their internet site says it has performed good way in eastern U.S.A. That sounds good. I planted White Lady peach tree 8.10.2011. Date is wroten day.month.year way. I know it is little late to plant peach tree, hopefully it can survive winter. I gave it 30 liters water after planting, 8 U.S.A. gallon for those in U.S.A. as you use gallons. I also have Frost peach variety, planted june 2011. It is yellow flesh peach. I gave it 30 liters water after planting. I was little worried as it didn't have leaves. No single leave. It just sit in ground. It didn't look good. Was thinking is it dead? It got leaves 1 month after planting. I think it was growing roots. Was thinking of asking what mine peach tree is doing, but i didn't as i thought you couldn't help. White Lady peach was in pot. White Lady and Frost peaches are now in ground. I have 2 pear trees. Aunen paaryna and Pepi are those varieties. In garden we have 3 gooseberries, 3 red currants, blackcurrant, apple tree and raspberry. Those was planted before we moved here, so i don't know what varieties those are.

Hopefully White Lady peach survive winter. Now you know what i grow. I told what i grow as you told what you grow. Thanks of asking what i grow. How your growing season 2011 is going? I think you still have growing season going on. If we determine growing season as of frost free time as in U.S.A. Hopefully you have good fruit growing plants there in warm Florida. Hope you enjoy warm weather there in Florida.

Hi Dennis,
We still have a little growing period yet here in Fl. The temp. here will be around 90, hopefully it will start cooling off the end of the month.
I had to look up Kepel fruit, I had never heard of it nor have I seen it. Lucky you to have one. Your peach tree should do OK this winter. Did you keep it in the pot? If so you could always bring it in during the winter.
This weekend there is a sale here in Stuart that I hope I can go to. They should have fruit trees and plants. Maybe I'll pick up a fruit tree?

Yes nice warm weather there. That is warm temperature. I like warm weather. I have one Kepel plant from seed. Yes it is in the pot. It grows very slowly. Yes you can buy fruit tree if you have, and/or have money? Are you planning to buy one? If they have fruit trees. Thanks of saying mine peach tree should do good in winter. Come back and say if you went there and did you got fruit tree? I meant did you buy fruit tree?

I see my neighbor stealing some of the raspberries between the houses (kind of a shared spot). Not a big deal, as I steal some beans on my side of the fence, and she also gives me some food as well. I have gotten her addicted to blackberries! I do grow more plants then just fruit - like castor beans, and I had to chase down some teens who a bunch. I managed to track them down - they thought it was weed, and man would they have gotten a shock when they smoked it....... I had to tell them what it was. OF course they didnt believe me. I had to use one of their phones to show them the differences. Ive had cops stop and ask what it was as well.

Hi all, When I started my mini orchard, I also went after trees that were as close to bearing age as I could afford. I order 2 five gallon persimmon trees from buyplantsonline in January of this year, one tree produce about five persimmons and the other tree never really leaf out but John replaced it at no cost to me (great customer service too) unlike other places that ask you to pay the shipping for a replacement. I also ordered several trees from Bay Laurel this year, the nursery employee said they would produce some fruit in 2012 and the crop would increase each year thereafter. Three of the BL trees flowered this summer but no fruit formed. Also another member on this forum has posted that his trees from Bay Laurel (I think he said they were from BL) fruited in their second leaf. Baylaurels trees cost much less, but I'm very happy with all the trees. Goodluck

Our family recently moved out to 12 acres and have 18 fruit trees planted by previous owner. Hoping to gain as much knowledge and insight as possible as my family becomes better educated. We haven't sprayed anything at this point and hope we can manage to get some production this year. Post the photos and question to Fruit & Orchards forum. If you have fruits, you can post the photos (if ripe, the photos of the fruit vertically cut open). Also, if it's going to be cut down, why not get some cuttings of the young and healthy branches? You might be able to grow the next generation of the same tree. Fruit & Orchards group can give you advice on how to propagate by cuttings. (I'm trying my Santa Rosa plum.)
