If I had your wildlife, and a large lot or acreage, I'd plant a hedgerow of the shorter types of Hybrid Spinosissima such as Stanwell Perpetual, or R. spinosissima, to create a low thorny fence to discourage the little bunny rabbits, around the regular rose garden. Even if the bunnies do eat some of the spinosissma rose foliage, because the roses produce only one bloom cycle, the bush won't need as much foliage to photosynthesize and create blooms every month or two. Behind the row of spinosissima roses, a fence to discourage deer, planted with a row of beautiful thorny Ramblers,on the inside facing the rose garden,which would create a spectacular vista of bloom in early summer, and a wall of foliage through early autumn. From spring through early autumn, at least your vista would be of roses and foliage, and only in the winter, when you'll probably be spending less time in your garden, would the fence be more visible. I just love the vintage style and old-fashioned look of my new crimped wire fence . . . installed last week . . . once the rains stop and the wood dries out the fence will be painted the light beige that matches the trim on the house. Can't wait! And then it's some gardening to put a garden right inside the front side . . . have the wisteria and butterfly bushes ready to plant. :-) I will attempt to post photos now and then after the painting/planting.

Thanks for the info! I have wanted some of this old fashioned type fencing for a long time. I have a gate with the hooped wire insert, and a little finial on top. Will be perfect for my old fashioned plants, yard, etc.

I will try to tell you how I do it. First, you have to have an online account to store your pictures. I use Photobucket, the free version. Follow their directions to send the photo to your account there. Then when you type your message in the forum, just go to that account (Photobucket or whatever) find the picture select the HTML code under the picture (you will have other choices, but the third one down, HTML, is what works here. Click on it (will show copied) then go back to the forum and paste (right click) the copied code where you want it in your message. When you preview the message, you will see if it works for you. Hope this is clear.
