williams sonoma classic dill pickles- tasted AWFUL- why??

so I just opened a can that I made in July, the seal was good so I am not concerned about the safety per say but I just tasted a piece of one of them and they were AWFUL. I am a big pickle eater and really enjoy eating them. I cannot even describe how horrible it was... anyone know why?! anything I should look for that I may have done with them??
