What is wrong with plumeria?

The leaves are going white and crusty feeling on part of this plant. It is only on th etop of the leaves, the undersides are normal, though starting to leach their color a bit. It was in a pot for 3 years and I just put it in the ground this spring. Any clues?

Hi Joan, I would check for spider mites. Look closely they are probably all around the curled leaf and then in and around the others.. The other leaves look green and healthy so i wouldn't worry to much. How is the watering going? Not to wet is it? Let it dry between watering... The buyer 3 in 1 Insecticide is a great product. Make sure you spray on a cloudy day or keep the tree from direct sun after spraying... All over tree. Under leaves too... Good luck!! Laura

To an older plant which has more leaves they are as with many things in small quantities spider mites are generally harmless. Some plants for whatever reason may not be impacted as much as others. I have had Plumeria next to each other and one is infested with spider mites and the other has nothing. You can see in your picture just above the one current leaf the spider mite web, a light color speck, and the look of the damage done is telltale. I hope that helps you.

I've used it but not on that frequency. Usually no more than 4-6 weeks. Most of it depending on weather conditions and a well hydrated plant which isn't always easy without daily watering.

This is my first Plumeria plant. I bought it from a local nursery and repot it to a 10" pot right away. I watched lots of repotting videos to Plumeria and found out that it is better to not repot it that deep because the stem might rot. When new leaves started growing (which was exciting for me) they all have wrinkles as shown in the pictures. I never took the Plumeria outside yet as it was getting cold when I bought it. What did I do wrong or what is wrong with my Plumeria?

Lellie is right, spider mites, I have them too and need to spray. I'm going to use 1 tablespoon of Murphey's Oil soap to 1 gal of water. I'm going to spray because they're on the tip of my Samoan Fluff and taking off the leaves won't be enough.

I didn't realize that spider mites would attack the TOP only of the leaves?

Katkin - They've been at this for a month or more. I don't remember what they looked like the last couple years when the leaves got ready to drop.

The other plumie (in a different area) is blooming its plumie heart out! Weird stuff this is.

If you look at the back they're most likely on that side too, it just looks like they're only on the top.

what if you also have the dreaded RUST ????? I've gotta bunch of plumeria started......two with some major rust problems.......... HELP!
