Nicaragua, the fruit of this particular species is not particularly wonderful, but I do like to eat the ones that are grown for their fruit. Judy, I'd not heard about bats pollinating passionvine flowers, but it's always a good idea to provide some shelter for the bats on your property. Harshavardhan, here in Florida we have a group of native nurseries across the state that sell this plant (www.plantrealflorida.org). This plant does not occur naturally in BC, but there may be some other species that could fill the niche in the landscape. The range is from Texas to Pennsylvania and south through Florida. http://plants.usda.gov/core/profile?symbol=PAIN6

Rosestnt- that's something I have really loved about my Passion flower vine - nothing else in my garden drives butterflies crazy as much as this plant! There are often caterpillars and butterflies around it!! I tend to get some monarch look-alikes. It doesn't get too chewed up though - I think it grows too fast for that.
