My wild animals are not too bright today....

A juvenile Coopers hawk is sitting on my grapefruit tree right next to the bird feeders.

The squirrels are compeltely oblivious and just walking up and down the tree INCHES from the hawk and fighting over feeder access...moving within inches of the hawk trying to figure out why it's sitting there.

The hawk is just sitting there watching all of this-- and is fascinated but sorta perplexed as to 'what to do' as well. He's not acting like a predator but like another bird who wants the feeder.

Even the doves are bopping around within inches near the hawk clueless that they may be breakfast.

Watching this is a nail biter for sure! Amazing! I guess that's how they fine tune their hunting skills by trial and error.

At leas the blue jays and cardinals are smart enought to stay away!
