Then all of the rest of my projects get put on hold for the "new" thing. Found this pond on Craigslist for $50.

Has anyone seen one like this before? It came with the house the guy bought, so he had no idea where it came from. The back of it is a straight line, so it looks like it is made for the prefab waterfalls....which I will be looking for too. Haven't found anything like it online. It's very heavy.

I will be digging a hole in this area...backing the pond in under the EE's (leaving room for a waterfall).

Tina it looks great. does it have any type of drain?Is it cement.
I love it ! I have been buying rocks at garage sales every chance I get. Just picked up 5 today!
Your treasure will make a great pond,It even has the shelves for the water lily pots.

Hi Goldenpond...

It doesn't have a drain. It looks like it is made of cement. Since it's so heavy, it can't be fiberglass. I looked online, though and I can't find prefabricated cement ponds.

I will post pictures when I get it all done.

I was at Walmart today getting an all-metal impact sprinkler and a bulb planter that has an adjustable diameter--nifty. Of course, I couldn't resist looking at the new bags of grass seed. Most of the bags were printed with an appropriate 2012 or 2013 "Sell By" date or "Use By" date, but I saw some bags from Scotts that had a sticker placed over their original "Sell By" dates! When the sticker was peeled off, you could see that printed on the bag itself was a 2011 "Sell By" date, but the sticker covering the bag had a 2012 Sell By date! I don't know if these were last year's seeds or, hopefully, just this year's seeds in last year's bags? Kinda shocked me. The stickers were so plainly visible. Just needed to lift them up in order to see the bag's original hidden Sell By date. My faith in corporate ethics has been forever shattered--LOL. In fairness, I should say that most of the Scotts bags had appropriate 2012 and 2013 Sell-By dates. Only a few bags had the conspicuous stickers covering a date from last year. And again, maybe, those were this year's seeds in last year's bags. Sure hope so.

I see differences too, cuz I zoomed way in, and that also made me wonder if they are not hand carved. Look at the neck of the gown on the left, it looks like a 'v' neck. The one on the right appears more rounded (can't see the bottom of the 'v' anyway). Look at the waves in the end of the hair, behind the ear at the nape of the neck. On the right it appears to be 3 thinner symmetrical waves, on the left it appears to be two fuller waves. Facial features; the one on the right appears to have a more pointed chin, more defined lips, rounded nose. The one on the left has a softer chin, softer lips, straighter 'romanesque' nose (that's not a word, lol). If they were not hand carved, wouldn't the only other option then be machine made? And if machine made, wouldn't they be much closer to almost virtually identical? (Don't know about cameos much.) Imagine the skilled labor that would have to go into something hand-carved in such minute detail! Here is an example I found (bottom center of page), they are cuff links, but still a matching pair, they have subtle differences as well and are priced at $500. I just did a little googling, and found this from How to Identify Antique Vintage Sterling and Silver Jewelry Content: Look for marks, usually on the inside or clasp. If the jewelry is marked 800, it is considered COIN SILVER, and is 80 percent silver with 20 percent alloy. Jewelry must be .925 to be sterling silver in the USA. Most of the newer jewelry is marked .925 if it is sterling silver. .950 is a little better quality of sterling silver, and is found in older jewelry. .835 is common for older European silver. This offers some dating for the .835 silver in Europe. (I'm not big on yahoo's Q&A but that answer came from a librarian it says. ;) They are very pretty sweeby!

oh been there done that, I feel your pain lol that recipe right there is exactly what to use forget about the tomato juice and other bull, the peroxide one is the best. a couple nights ago a possum and a skunk got into a dispute over the cat food at the back door, well the door lost, it got a full on spray and it suddenly smelled like it was in the house with us. I had that smell in my nose all night.

Well, I've been taking photos, but can't download them on my computer. We thought it was due to the old computer not having a USB 3.0 port, but.... My older son bought me some new computer called a Gigabyte that's a tiny box, and a new monitor. He put a Linux program on it again instead of Windows. I've had like 4 different Linux operating systems in the last couple of yrs. He's always playing around. They are good because you don't have to worry about viruses, but not everything works on them. They don't have the drivers or the support for alot of things... like my new camera. I keep getting error messages that it "failed to mount." or something like that. Sooo... he's going to try and see if there's anything he can find to fix it. Otherwise he said he'll have to put Windows on the computer. The camera downloads fine on my other son's computer and the one at my shop. Both have Windows. I did get these pics downloaded the other day at work. Christmas decoration shots... These were all in basically in just Xmas lights and maybe some light from the TV. No flash. This is our dog KYA. She was about 12ft away on the couch. No flash again, and the viewfinder looked almost pitch black. Hard to focus on a dark object in darkness. Not bad. And here's my favorite cat, Ginger.... the psycho kitty. I'll try to get some outdoor pics tomorrow if it doesn't rain again.

Wow, Tina, what a find!

I love the light color. I know the black ones make the water look deep and mysterious, but I never felt that they show off the plants and wildlife enough.

It reminds me some of beautiful Florida, say Lithia Springs or Crystal Springs about 30 years ago.

Veronica, I'm with you. I like the lighter color and being able to see the bottom. I'll have to find a couple of mini pond plants and their leaf cover will hide the pots. I love it.

Gatormom, the guy we bought it from had a wagon that we dragged it around front on and at home we used our wheelbarrow. I thought the poor ole thing was going to give out. lol

I was recently given a wonderful small, blue, fragrant waterlily by Susan (Nova). It has already grown so much that I have been able to divide it. And it just had three blooms at once. It's a winner. So, you can plan on a piece of that in your near future. :D

I got the hole dug out and the pond in on the first try. I'm pretty sure I wouldn't have been able to lift it back out from ground level....so thank goodness for that!!
I set it just a tad higher then the ground to keep dirt/mulch from going in so easily. I used stones I have already for the gap. The kids are so excited they filled it with water already, so we have to get it running ASAP. That's hubby's job......
