anyone hosting a fall swap in Tampa area?

I saw the post about doing some swapping at the USF sale and the other post about the eucomis and I got to wondering if anyone is planning a fall swap in the Tampa area?

I'd love one, I lost a lot in the rains. Plus I always seem to buy too much at the Tropiflora & USF sales which means finding homes for lots of other things.

I wasn't planning one, but I'd love to attend if someone else is. I'm trying to save seeds from my Everglades toms and choco bell peppers, so I would even have a little something to trade.

Would be the right time now. I just hope the gas prices don't go any higher. That will affect everyone who, like me, has a fair bit to drive to get to Ottawa, especially to the west-end. Other than that, the plants have been multiplying like crazy. Lots of fresh seeds, too. The best part for me, besides meeting so many nice people in spring, was that every plant or seedling, that I hauled home, transplanted well. So, what's the prefered date and location? Imogen

Oh, PAM! I am so HAPPY FOR YOU!!! Best wishes, I'd like to put you on our prayer list at church (again) please! How about we try Saturday October 13th for the swap, here at my house, same one we used in the spring because a) we are still here, and b) there are three GIANT piles of dirt behind the purple house with no hopes in moving until someone offers me a very well paying job (hint hint anyone with money!!) so I can afford to get someone to build retaining walls, a patio...oh my!! If we don't have much to trade, we can still have a garden party for anyone who wants to attend. I sure won't have much to trade. Almost everything I have is dead, or sure is doing it's best impression of a dead plant. We can commiserate together. GGG

Lori, is it too far for you Tampa folks to drive over here to St Petersburg? I can have a swap at my place, but it has to be on a Sunday. Right now I can't do it at all in Sept, So how about in Oct? The best day for me would be Sunday Oct 31 (Halloween day). Anybody game??? ........cheryl

I've let the yard go during all that rain and heat, so now I need to get out there and prune and divide and conquer. Not sure if I should pot up things for a swap or not???

Oh so willing to go, but nothing to trade. :-(

Hmm... I know I'm really close to Lori's local. (North near Lutz) I only have a small (edibles)garden, but a horrible HOA I'd love to piss off with some company! :-D Let me check with the hubsters and make sure he's OK if I make waves first. But definitely count me in for attending as long as I am in town no matter where it is - within a 2 hour drive!

How far north is Lutz? I might be interested. Years ago I hosted a few swaps, maybe this spring I will do another.

As much as I would love to come to a swap, I don't drive too far away (especially over high bridges!) so can't do a Tampa swap.
However, I would be more than willing to host one in Sarasota if anyone would come!

I'm not Tampa nor Deland. Lake Mary in fact. 1.5 miles from the Seminole County Extension office. Oct 29 is the Seminole County Master Gardener Expo. From 10AM to 4 PM. I could host something simple in the late afternoon. Say from 3:30 to 6. What do you Delander's think?

well, since starting this thread things have changed. A couple days ago, hospice discharged my father (for those that don't know I caretake him, he's going to be 91 next month, has dementia but otherwise healthy, which is why hospice discharged him). That means I lost the volunteer that would stay with him so I could get out. As his dementia gets worse, fewer and fewer of my friends/neighbors feel comfortable staying with him, and medical sitters for the number of hours a swap/drive time would take is beyond me at the moment. So I'm out, sorry.

Can we get a head count on who would be interested in attending. I got an OK form the hubby but if only 1 or 2 are interested maybe Dianne's would be easier. I know that Silvia is in her area as well as a few others.

I was looking at the first or second weekend in November -
I'm near the Suncoast parkway east of 75 half way to the coast here is a map:

Closest town would be New Port Richey or Odessa

Barbie...I'd suggest you start a new thread. The subject line of this thread might keep those that have already read here, or aren't willing to host, away. And those that have already responded before you decided to host might not come back and read the thread again to find out about your offer.
