Too hot to cook...freeze 'maters for later?

My tomatoes are coming on early and strong. But (like most everyone's weather this summer) it's way too hot to cook. (A/C? What's that? LOL) Can I just chop them up, layer them in bags and freeze, then cook them up for soup and sauce later -- like maybe in December when things cool down? *pant*

After picking they don't last long in this heat. Suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks :-D

Kris

P.S. When I do make my soups and sauces, I freeze, not can the results.
