dog poop to recycle or compost
Comments (36)Having spent a decent number of years in places where bilharzia (worms that enter the skin, grow, and then finally leave, picked up by wading in or drinking contaminated water), Onchocerciasis (aka 'River Blindness', from fly bites), Falciparum malaria from mosquito bites), those little worms that dig under your toenails (forget the name) , 'bot' flies, the ones where the eggs stay on wet laundry, so you have to iron everything or else you have a worm larvae burrowing and growing along the bikini line, then Trypanosomiasis (sleeping sickness, from the tsetse fly; they sure love it when you go in the shade). I honestly wouldn't worry about domestic poop from your domestic dog, I mean unless you just let him devour stray, stumbling and obviously sick rodents and 3 week old road kill for his main source of nutrition. Where I live now, I have about a half cubic yard (bit of poetic license) of raccoon poop, in the summer, all over the place. Its disgusting. Like owning 34 German Shepherds on laxitives. This stuff I am pretty wary of, and depending on location, I either take a shovel and toss it over the fence into the pasture beyond, or bury it in-situ. I have become allergic to furry pets, so I can't keep dogs anymore. That limitation does not stop me from offering advice (obviously)....See MoreAnyone have a good homemade recipe to deter cats pooping (m)
Comments (149)There are those who can't seem to understand why others threaten to "rid" those problem cats. Usually some owners of pets. Yet those who have to deal with other's pets, which is what cats are, who continue over and over to destroy and leave filth on other's own private property is a nuisance. There are some that should not own pets, that do not care what is done to neighbors. Those same people are the ones who have no say in what can or can't be done to remove those problems. What happens with these pets come down to the owner. Control them or don't. Would you let your children run free to trash and urinate on other people's property? If so, maybe others will return the favor to you and your home. Since it is apparently no problem there....See MoreI am preg and dog is pooping in house! Help!
Comments (6)This brings back memories of when I was pregnant with my first child and we adopted a boxer. She was housebroke (so they said) but it was awful, and your senses seemed to be heightened dramatically during pregnancy, the smell alone was enough to send me running. She quit doing that about the time I came home from the hospital with the baby. I tried all sorts of things even tying her up outside (which I did NOT want to do, but just could not take the mess at that time) you cannot tie a boxer up, I found that out the hard way, her neck was bigger than her head, so then being 8 months pregnant in June I am running around trying to find her, because when she got loose she RAN. I even tried a harness, the dog was houdini!!! I finally just had to put her in the garage, then hubby got to clean it up when he got home from work, I felt bad about that but it was his dog:) after I came home, she stopped messing in the garage, so we started letting her in the house again, she loved to guard (or mama) the baby. it worked out, but I sure do remember being so frustrated with the dog and I did a lot of crying and screaming myself at the time. She really was a good dog, I felt so bad when I would yell at her, she would lower her head and look at you with those sad eyes, so then of course I would start bawling. Walking is suppose to be good for you while you are pregnant (hah!!) if you have the energy (I never had any while pregnant, but I have heard others say they do) maybe you could try walking your pooch a few times a day, even just around the yard?? I feel for you and I definitly know what you are going through....See Moreoutdoor cats are pooping in all the wrong places - help me train
Comments (9)Mazer, thanks for all the ideas. I do clean up the poop everyday, but it's amazing how much 3 can make in a day and by the end of the day the flies are swarming. I think you've answered a question, but I will ask for clarification. If I put their poop where I want them to go, they will realize that's where they should go? I was afraid it would turn them off to that space because it already smells. I put two wheelbarrows of nice soft shredded mulch under a tree that is 30 feet from the patio to give them a place to go that is still close by. I even take them there every morning, but they just run away, not interested. I think I will try your idea of using the litter box and gradually dragging it in that direction. Our shelters are way overflowing with cats. On the forms I checked the box that said "outside" and no one said that was not ok. In a city it would be very hard on an outside cat, but my last cats lived 15 years here in the country, so it can't be too hard on them. (I am bringing them in at night until they are bigger.) They will all be spayed/neutered. At the shelter I had to pay for it up front when adopting them. They give me a certificate for the vet, and I will be refunded the money after the vet signs off. A great idea as far as I'm concerned. There are already too many unwanted cats and I don't need to bring any more into the world. Thanks for the ideas. Still interested in any more people have....See Moresaldut
