Interesting site but I must have missed most of the food preservation info. Most of what I found was sales links, fresh use recipes, and blogs on cooking.

I do not think any info is posted yet. I think they want you to sign up your email so they will let you know when it gets posted. Anyway I signed up my email. hope it works.

I got there from other info on the same overall site. It seems to have info posted. but a lot of talk between people. I think they will get you recipes on anything you want for free.

I did not feel the advertising as I always ignore it.

Are these methods going to be safe to follow ?

I guess we have to see what they say. I think it will be more educational than recipes.

I had a quote last week from gov researchers who say that properly fermented foods are more safe than pressure cooked foods for storage. So I expect the discussion to be safe to listen to. I also think we can post over there or here if we do not like something they say.

Anyway, I think the topics are interesting. And I would not use any technique unless I research it very much. I never take any chances. I tend to be very conservative in preserving foods. I also spend a lot of time researching proper techniques.

I hope to see what they have to say.

There are many sites on the web who exist merely to collect email addresses or to redirect you to other sites with things for sale where more tacking cookies are placed on your computer. So any site that requires registration or giving them your email just to read (posting is something else) their info should be handled with care.

Right now, as this site exists in its current form, it has very little to offer in the way of home food preservation information. And since there are no credentials listed, no source links for the recipes I looked at, and some unsafe or potentially unsafe recommendations I would encourage it be used with great care.

I went out and signed up, figured I can always block it if it is "carp", plus there was a place to unsubscribe if you wanted to. I got the first email from them this morning and it is a lot of seemingly good info, a lot like what I read on this forum. Some recipes, some techniques, some sicence. Fermenting makes me nervous, seems like an awful lot can go wrong, and they even sort of address that. It's not as clinical as the NCHFP site, but the information seems accurate. Gives some sample recipes to try, and resources for more. I would be curious to see what some of our redsident experts think of their techniques / recipes, but the site seems legit.

I checked out the site. It looks OK, though too new to offer much at this point.

The founder and her husband operate a farmers market. Apparently the focus of the site is whole foods and sustainable agriculture. I can't argue with that.

I didn't sign up for anything because I don't need any more emails, but it looks pretty standard. I checked out the forums. As usual, you can read but not post unless you've signed up. A few threads were "private" discussions for those enrolled in classes, but other than that you can peruse whatever's offered.

Some recipes, some advertising. Over time it may become a rich resource, but now it's clearly in its infancy.
