Your not the only one that lost their mind in 2011 I said no more and I've added to many to list this year, at least I did get brave enough to finally shovel prune some of my poor performers.

I also added just a couple this month but really restrained myself. Most of what I got was because of pictures and feedback from posters here on the forum. Such a great group of enablers LOL. I cleaned out a bed of Bearded Iris and replenished the soil in July. I knew I could find more space IF I really tried ;-).

You are in SUCH GOOD company here. We all know about the daylily sickness. Most of us suffer from it in varying degrees, and we've been there and done that. We all understand when, in a moment of temporary "daylily insanity," it is possible to spend as much as a monthly car payment or rent!!

I have Ledgewood Firecracker and Blue Eyed Butterfly-you'll love them. I really like Rodelinda, and thought about it-but it goes above my self imposed price limit this year. I had it all plotted out which flowers were going to leave this year, and purchased some accordingly-but then was given more from family who shared. I still have 8 daylilies, 2 hosta, an oriental lily, and three iris stitting in pots that I really need to find someplace to put in the next couple weeks. Sooner if possible-I was on the theory that I would plant (at least in a temporary place) at least two a night for the rest of the week, but it's going to rain all day today, and maybe more tomorrow. So it will probably be a weekend marathon.
And my husband is convinced I'm crazy :)

In reading your list I realized that if you've lost your mind, then my mind is long gone. Your list seems short to me...haha. Can you tell that I'm a new daylily addict? I put in orders to 6 different vendors in the spring and received about 60 which I scrambled to make new raised beds for. So the summer rolls along and I get the itch again and make another raised bed so I can order from Maryott's again. Yep, filled that one up....and placed another order to come on Moday. I was going to get a load
of loam delivered yesterday but all it's done is rain so
that's on hold til next Monday (that's going to be a HUGE scramble to get the bed made before the lilies arrive!).
I think I maybe the craziest here yet. I haven't even told
my husband about this last order.....it will be some nervous waiting & scrambling to get to the package before he does...LOL. I don't even dare count how many daylilies that makes in total now. (None of which were expensive because I wanted lots of lilies and quickly, but it still adds up).
I don't spend money on myself other than my gardening, so I feel justified. I'd rather have my flowers than shoes, clothes or a trip to the salon. And some of these orders
were from money for my birthday...and believe it or not,
I pawned some old jewelry (plus a wedding ring from my lst marriage) to make $$$ for daylilies. Yep, I'm crazy.

If this is crazy, then I am light years beyond crazy! I'm with Floota on this one and I'm a newbie! The love bug done bit me! The daylily love bug that is! I've had daylilies in the past and actually had about 20 or so in my garden until this summer. Still have the 20 or so in the garden but now have about 200 in pots and another 100 in the ground! My husband has known for a loooong time that I am crazy and my friends just gave up trying to convince me of this strange phenomenon called craziness. :) I always say....there are much worse addictions!

You will love Belle of Ashwood. It is one of the top 3 daylilies in my garden. I have Bohemian Rhapsody and Harper's Bazaar as well but they are too new to have bloomed here.

OK Celeste! I am now convinced we are cut from the same cloth! I was posting at the same time you were on this last one and almost verbatum what I was thinking and what I wrote!!

I spend very little on myself period and most of my garden money comes from my puppies and my sewing. I don't travel, I don't get my hair or nails done and I make most of my clothes. Not that fabric is cheap but I shop for anything else at Walmart! My passions are my animals and my garden. Throw in a few stray kids and old people here and there. :)

I spent an hour on the phone with my daughter who has joined the crazy Ginny club, but she realizes now that it is Mom who is always watering her garden and puppy sitting when she is off on another trip or weekend away and that this is my enjoyment! I forgive her! :)

You are in the company of your peers if that means you lost your mind. I have a few of the new ones you got, and you chose well, David.

U wish I could be losing my mind with you, but I'm out of space and if I have to ask my husband one more time for another container and potting soil to go with it, I know I'm going to get the, "How on earth do you plan on fitting one more container back there?"
Ummmm....is walking easily really necessary? I could make it an obstacle course and people could pay a small fee to crawl over and skirt around various containers ;)

I don't think you have lost your mind at all. You know all of us here think it is perfectly reasonable and of course you HAD to get those daylilies. I am sure you will love them.

Spending money on the garden seems reasonable to me. Like some of our other posters, I don't travel or get my hair done or go to the spa. Don't spend much money on cloths so spending it on the garden is my passion.

You have a great list. I only have Blue-eyed-Butterfly and I really like it as it does well here! I started "downsizing" last year and this year I added almost as many as I got rid of last year! Hummmm, guess I'm an addict!! Ellie

After buyong daylilies this spring, I swore I wouldn't get any more LOL. I just ordered 10 more from a local nursery that is having a 50% off sale. Most of these were now $4-8, I just couldn't pass that up. I ordered:

Good for you! This is a healthy thing, people! Working outside (vitamin D and good exercise) does wonders...it probably helps you keep your mind (and the rest of us, too)!

And, when you race outside next summer to enjoy your new blooms, you will think it all worth it.

As said often, you are in welcome company. We can all relate...and do the same thing.

I'm right there with ya folks!! I am hopeless when it comes to daylilies. I have been better this year than last but hey, its still early. lol! Trying to pass on Maryotts this year but doubt I can hold strong. I still can enlarge some beds but trying not to do that. I said no more roses too but ordered some anyway in hopes of getting rid of some poor performers or ones I just don't care for. Now, let me go check out that website mentioned on here. heehee!!!

If I counted correctly, that's less than 20 new additions this year. That hardly counts as crazy in this group. Most people have certain things they splurge on, and can afford it, as long as they are more restrained in other areas, and I think it is good for one's mental health to do so. And as others have said, this is a healthy addiction in lots of ways. So splurge away!
