A couple of light frost nips here in Novi (15 miles NW of Detroit) over the past couple of weeks. Nothing serious yet, though...pretty amazing for Nov 1...my cannas with their deep purple foliage and even a few blooms are still standing tall in addition to lots of annuals...some zinnias are hanging in there, impatiens are on their last gasp (still sporting a few blossoms), dusty miller (plant this next year for silvery color from spring, summer and right into early winter...it even overwinters for me here...and boy, does it look great with the green/purple kale plants I picked up this fall), alyssum, marigolds (also VERY cold tolerant) and more... But I don't mind all that much the plants that have given up for the winter and made their way into my compost bags...every square foot of bed I clear down to nice rich earth makes me think of spring and the things that will be bursting forth before we can even believe it... And plus there's always seed-starting to keep my thumb green over winter!

We finally got around to watching it. We had it recorded on the DVR. What a weird way to get rid of a character. Why not have him move away or something. Why did they end it that way? It really depressed me. Clare

Yes, I loved it and can hardly wait for the next season. Did you see the kids performing at the Emmys? They were great ! That is just so cool that you saw Gaten. He does have a unique look. He actually has the condition he referenced in the show. It's called cleidocranial dysplasia. He wears fake teeth when needed. He is adorable and so is Millie Bobby Brown, who plays Eleven.

I've watched from the beginning and thoroughly enjoy the series, even tho I have been known to watch through hands in front of my face during certain scenes. I just read somewhere that the actress who portrays Brienne of Tarth, when speaking of the up coming season - "be prepared to need therapy". Gulp. I know in the books her character died long time ago (no, didn't read the books but sometimes I get curious and visit the GOT discussion groups). She is one of my favorites. Actually I did try to read the first book in the series years ago, before I even knew it was GOT. I only made it five or six chapters before I got totally lost.
