I'm happy you finally got some of that rain, but you guys need to keep doing the rain dance for me. Please??? I can't believe we still have not gotten wet over here. It's been just west of me all week!

I live in the " cone of protection " that cannot be seen on radar . I live less than 5 miles from ill and have received not one single drop of precipitation since April 6 . Rainy season my a** !! The rainbow tonight was pretty but my pastures need rain !!
Maybe I can gloat when the hurricanes hit and my cone of protection saves me from imminent doom ! Ha ! I should be so lucky ! Mary

We have FINALLY had two, count 'em, TWO, rainy evenings in a row. Started about 6:00 or so and poured for about two hours. Plants began to leap into the air with frantic spurts of growth, hoping to take advantage of every drop before it disappears again! If Mark doesn't mow tonight, Potter and Maks will disappear when they venture into the backyard!

We had thunder and lightening, but mostly at a distance, so it wasn't threatening us here.

Aaaaaahhh...rain, glorious rain! (Still dancing with a fervent wish for this to continue to occur, but only about twice a week or so, please. After all, absolutely no need to go straight from drought to monsoon.)

Ages ago , a very old Florida Cracker told us about the cone of protection in our area . It is actually related to the geographic/topographic lay out of our land . Guess that's why my two story 100 year old house is still standing . Not sure how much longer our luck will last !
My husband was sure that we had rain last night since his feet got damp as he walked outside this morning . I told him no - that's just dew . The buckets I had out out were bone dry . Even a little dew is better than nothing !

i've been in florida for a 10 years, and i continue to be amazed at how isolated some of these storms can be.

Woo Hoo! We are getting rain! Doing the happy dance. ;o)

About an hour ago, I heard thunder and went outside to find a bruised looking sky with huge purple clouds blowing in fast. Lightening and rumbling everywhere and the wind beginning to toss leaves and debris around. I battened the hatches, finished my outdoor projects quickly and came in to wait out the storm. I'm still waiting. The sky is bright blue now and the yard is bone dry. I don't know where that storm went (maybe all the way down to your house, Katkin) but it didn't spill a drop of water here.

On the plus side, Mark will be able to mow the lawn when he gets home from work, which he would not have done had it been soaking wet out.

That would be a 35 gallon trash can, just about full of recent rainwater. It has a twin and several smaller cousins that look just about the same.

according to the radar, looks like there's more coming...

We finally got our first really good rain today - over 3" in my rain gauge! It's been a LONG, dry stretch here..........

veromg...I assume you are in Vero Beach as am I. Not a drop at my house today, I watched the radar and my own personal "cone of no precipitation" was at work again! GRRRRRR... I could see the rains south of us, at least some in the county got some!

The lightning would have been over here...I grew up in near Melbourne, and can remember watching the lightning in the west. There is nothing like a Fort Myers thunder storm. We got nearly three inches of rain in about 45 minutes...Alleluia!

Sorry to chime in late but at last it seems the rainy season has found us here. We have had storms three different afternoons since Sunday for a total of 3 inches! The vines are growing inches a day and my roses are starting to bloom and I think the lake may have even come up a little. I just hope this isn't a tease and the storms continue through the summer!

No rain in Melbourne. My yard is fried. My pump isn't working well. But from past memories this is the way it starts. The sea breeze doesn't kick in till west of I95. at the start of the season. But it will come.

hope you're right, hopeful! ....*smile* that must be why you're called HopeFul. still trying to be (Happy) when I'm dragging the hose. "But it will come." ...trusting that hopeful is right!

My DIL found a barrel with a tight fitting lid behind a local supermarket but we can't figure out it's original use. Anyway, it's a bright yellow and I really don't want to put it at the front of the house, where - of course - the best run off is. The house is stuccoed with coquina, so am thinking of giving the barrel a good "sanding" then painting it with one of those just for plastic paints in a matching color.
Meanwhile, my tomatoes and bell pepper are starting to look very thirsty despite hand watering. I'm beginning to wonder if I've forgotten how to raise food! cora

Yay!!! We finally got rain yesterday. My yard is sighing in relief. I set lots of my potted plants out to reap the benefits too. Looks like more rain is predicted for today. Thank heavens!

It's been raining every day for over a week in Ocala where I work. We even had some small hail on tuesday or wednesday.
At my house in Inverness we've had at least 4 days of rain in the past week with some really heavy rain yesterday (sunday). It rained pretty heavily off and on for most of the afternoon with lots of lighting and thunder.
All the recent rain has done wonders for my garden and everything is growing very quickly! I took this picture of the rain lilies growing at the end of my driveway just this morning while I was leaving for work.
