Resale Mosaic Jar for Totem
Comments (12)You are so right Kudzu!!!! We moved here to avoid land maintainance work (I had just had back surgery). We have alleyways behind each row of houses too. We get waves and Howdy's from the back neighbors everytime we are back there. We hear their BBQ's and they hear our skill saw. LOL The builders compensated by building a large number of parks, lakes, pavillions, community club centers, trails, 2 dog parks, Outdoor BBQ Kitchen, two concrete water parks, exercise gym, dance studio ect. That was supposed to keep people's live music in the parks. And we indeed have several live concerts each year. It is a cool concept but in the summer I have to hear everyone,s lawnmower, weedeater, radio in the garage, car doors ect... The good noise that I do not mind is that I can stand on my porch and hear a local farms donkey throwing a fit. That always makes me and Hubs smile. We also keep watch on the horses and cattle all around as we drive the perimeter of the neighborhood. One day during a drought a local crop field burned (sparks from a 4-wheeler) and we could hear coyotes howling that night. They ate one of our swans at the entrance pond. We are a small town That was designed and built all at once out in the middle of the country. I do not get to take a walk and cut branches or vines to use in crafts. : ( I dont get to bring rocks home from the lake or pick the flowers. Even our Bass are "catch and release"!!! So I miss that aspect of land ownership really bad. I have to drive to our farm in Alabama to experience the freedoms that I'm missing here (And that is not very often done). Comments (8)My best guess is that the baby caterpillars are actually maggots from some kind of parasitic fly that managed to lay its eggs on the skin of the caterpillars. The caterpillars may have "cocooned up" in response to being weakened by the emerging maggots as the fly eggs hatched and grew into the larval stage. Keep watching and see what these "babies" metamorphose into....See MoreAny way to pickle and can onions so that they aren't mushy?
Comments (4)Sliced onions will always turn mushy if heat processed. The thinner they are sliced, the mushier they get. Like cuke pickles made from slicers rather than pickling cukes, there is simply too much water content. Small hard onions cut into 1/2 chunks will do better. But please note that, as you describe, if your onions are not heated up prior to putting them into the jars then an even longer processing time would be required for proper heat penetration. If you want to continue to use your method, and I know there are lots of recipes out there for this, then as those recipes recommend, fridge storage is the way to go. I don't see how they could be heat processed without going mushy. Dave...See MoreLooking resale site/shop for high-end bathroom pieces
Comments (8)You might be financially better off taking the tax write off by donating these than by attempting to sell them. As others have posted, realistically your market is going to be limited to those within your geographical area because it is unlikely that anyone is going to want to paying shipping costs and have to deal with issues that might arise. Realistically these are used items and the stars and the market for used fixtures is limited - and those woud be people seeking bargains. Seems like a lot of trouble for not much economic reward. Of course if you have ample storage room you can just keep them until the right buyer comes along....See Morecalliope
