Where have I been? What have I been doin?

I made a downsize move over 2 months ago and started with a blank slate at the new place - hopefully you will be able to open the album to see what I have done so far

Wow! Linda, you have been working hard. You made it warm,inviting and cozy. The family of geese is adorable.
I think you have earned a break and hope you can post

What a nice transformation of your property Linda! It looks very inviting and the families of geese are really neat. Hope you get to sit back and relax for awhile now, although we all know gardens are never finished, they are ever expanding.

IÂve been planting pale yellow ones for the last 2 years. I donÂt know what the name is. I really like them. They are a little smaller than regular petunias, but not as small as million bells or mini-tunias. They have slightly darker veins so have an interesting textural look rather than just solid. I planted mine with dark red ones to enhance the yellow color. I have all of mine in hanging baskets because the bunnies will eat petunias in my garden. Last year, FWIW, it seemed that they were not as vigorous or floriferous as the regular petunias. For that reason I did not plant any containers with them alone. I still liked the color well enough to get more this year.

I suppose you could just paint over the whole thing, glaze and all and then re-glaze. That's what I would do, but you could always use some really fine sandpaper to rough it up where you want to paint it, then paint and glaze. If you don't glaze it after you paint, it will chip and wear away easier. Glazing will make it last longer, & it makes it easier to clean..won't have to worry about the paint coming off. I wouldn't use spray paint, I'd brush the paint on. That pot in my pic was a glazed hideous green color. I didn't rough it up, and I never got around to glazing it. Just plain craft paint. Right now it's in my basement with a passi in it..paint chipped off a little cuz it was outside all summer. ANother fun lil project for spring, paint it again when I repot the passi. I'll glaze it this time, lol. I think if you painted the saucer the same color blue as the cup it wouldn't look right..just my opinion. It'd be too much of the one color...ya know? Maybe a lighter or darker blue though.

Oh, Sandy, the heat is awful! I just came in after watering a few things. Just planted out my A. purpurescens, so keeping a close eye on them. The others haven't done too well, to be honest. I think the early heat wave that began in May has taken its toll on a lot of plants and people. I still have to plant a few but I am trying to wait until fall to do a lot of them. The A. variegata is just "hanging in" there for now, but this heat has intercepted any significant growth on a lot of my plants, except for the tropicals I am raising. Finally getting my first blooms on Night Blooming Jessimine (Cestrum nocturnum), which is said to attract the sphinx moths in droves. We'll see. Eric, I am also growing the tropical A. physocarpa, aka Oscar, aka Family Jewels, etc., and usually it attracts as well if not better than the A. curassavica. So, I was kinda surprised they hit the Tropical first. Ya just never know. :) I don't know, Sandy, about the drove of Monarchs. I just haven't seen it yet. But perhaps. I saw the biggest Red Admiral this morning I've ever seen. She had to be almost equal in size to a large QM. She's probably gonna lay eggs on the Boehmeria cylindrica. The early heat in May and the rain we've had seems to have caused an explosion in the insect population, too. Lots of predators out there, and the wasps are numerous. Angel Alley is really lovely and I'm jealous of your oak trees as I have none now after my move.
Your front deck is also gorgeous.

Having moved recently also I know how hard it is to get a new garden started but you've really done a lot.

Linda It looks wonderful and angel alley is oing to wonderful once they all take off. It amazes me what you did over there. We have been staedy working to but nothing as finished as yours. I need to get some more variety of angels for dropping in along the inside of the yard where the azaleas all are as a taller planting,, Im running out of room...lol

We need to get out there for a visit.. Call me later..

Thank you all for the kind remarks--it is still a work in progress though! Barbcoleus--the trellises in Angel Alley are from a neighbors gazebo that got destroyed during a storm right after I bought the property and also destroyed my mine which turned into the pergola! I want to do alot of vines on the pergola and trellises. Pergola gets afternoon sun and trellises are in shade all day--any suggestions? I want to do some passies, dutchmans pipe and peavine for starters-need recommendations!!! Thanks!
