I hope all of you moms out there get some wonderful flowers for mothers day. That's what I always get my mom. Happy Mothers day to you all!!

Jem! Thank you. I was already thinking of sharing this before reading your post. Conversation with my 16-year old today: "How come you agreed to this?" he asks. Raised eyebrow. "I know why people celebrate Mothers' Day. Why are you agreeing to do it?" he amplifies. "Because of the size of babies' noses," I reply without thinking. He raises his eyebrows. I can tell he's already starting to regret the conversation and I have to stand by my remark now lol. "Well," I explain. "They're really very small, babies' noses; very easy to pinch and it will probably only take a few minutes. Next time your mother p*sses you off, think about that for a moment." Islay, here is what I have done: As I said, I incorporated part of the techniques of making Peking duck, which is to separate the skin from the meat. It was very easy using a long spoon to get under the skin. At the sametime I pushed under the skin lots of seasoning which I mixed in some 5 spice seasoning. Then came the boiling soy sauce wash. The duck was air dried in the refrigerator overnight. With a convection oven set at 170F, the chicken was roasted for about 8 hours. Then it was put in the freezer for about 15 minutes while the oven was being preheated to 500F. It didn't take long for the skin to be "Peking duck" crispy in the oven. dcarch

Happy Mother's Day, indeed! Even those of you ladies with no two-legged children are nurturing moms to your plants and your furbabies, so YOU, TOO!!

And Sumala, that is the most gorgeous thing! I've never seen a hibiscus like that. Thanks for the virtual bouquet!
