Donating Seeds for Haiti.

Hey Everybody

As some of you may or may not know things in Haiti right now are not so good. That is why a group that

I happen to be a member of called the Urban Paradise Guild are starting a seed crop so that we can help

send seeds to Haiti as well as other parts of Miami. We are also looking for any rusty old garden tools

that you may not even need anymore. Even if it is the broken end of a shovel we can fix it and use it for

the UPG seed crop. Keep in mind that because we are growing for the purpose of harvesting seeds we

cannot use any hybrid seeds. They do not even need to be in a packet they can be papaya seeds that you

removed from a fruit for example. We are also willing to receive things such as seed trays and pots. If

anybody lives in the area and would like to donate it would be very helpful.

I will be collecting donations at Miami Dade North Community College 11380 Northwest 27th Avenue Miami, FL 33167. Building 3 on Monday from Noon-5pm.

A great idea! I have heirloom bean seeds I can send, Would you receive them if I mailed them to the above address?

Unfortunately Miami Dade College only lets us set up a table and collect donations for one day. You can however mail them to the address below. I do not think we have beans yet. This will be a big help thank you so much.

I have received 3 mailers with seeds in the past week and a half. I will try to get the zip codes posted. We have had some major family issues, and I am about a week behind right now. Did you forget that you already posted this and had some responses? See the link below. I don't see the seed request posted on the Exchanges forum as recommended. SEED DONATIONS NEEDED FOR NEWBIE PROJECT

Anyone who wants to send me seeds to see if they will germinate or grow well in indoor conditions let me know. Also taking Unprocessed seedsvor seeds that were thrown on a giant tarl or in a giant seed bag marked, "Will grow, free to someone, Was cold". I'm in California will do indoor and outdoor or sort the seeds as best i can and resend viable seeds to tue project. Or suggest amounts to send per person just looking for more seeds for thwir personal collectiocollection based on how many I am able to germinate Itsjeddmills@yahoo.com.

I will go through my seeds and see if I have any heirlooms. I have lots of flower seeds. They are good for the soul and they attract beneficial insects.

What a wonderful project! I am involved with Haiti, too, with a hospital near Cap Haitien called Hopital Sacre Coeur (Sacred Heart Hospital).

I hope your team is vetting the donated plant material? Wouldn't want a kudzu-type occurrence destroying Haiti's beautiful ecosystem. I have to think you must be.

Thank you all so much! I cant weight to tell everyone at Urban Paradise. I was worried that no one would give but it looks like we are actually going to pull this off. My friends and professors have already donated. This Monday I went to Home Depot and although they wish they could they werent able to let put a donating poster next to the seed stand at the garden section. But some nice lady saw what I was doing and bought seven heirloom seeds on the spot! And yesterday a cop saw me putting posters and took one so that he can place it at the department of corrections. Also some fruit venders that go around on trucks selling produce have been giving me pineapple tops so that we can plant them. We have gotten off to a great start and its not even the 23rd yet.

Thank God for answered prayers! I'm so thankful you have some wonderful people helping you! Do I put the Miami Dade College as the top of the address on my envelope of seeds that I will send to you?
