I have a UG filter with a power head that was originally for a rectangular 10 gal. It is made up of two black grated plates that can connect and each has a powerhead...I am using only one of the plates and powerheads and had to cut the plate with large wire cutters (even though it's plastic they worked like a dream) because my tank is dome fronted so I needed to round the front of the plate so it would fit...I also have A LOT of gravel in the tank so the plants sit really deep and they don't get disturbed much when I siphon the debris. Your daughter's tank, what shape is it?

I would think any of these would work with your trout. Baked Parmesan Fish 1 lb haddock 1/2 tsp salt 1/8 tsp ground black pepper 1/2 c sour cream 1 T freshly grated parmesan 1/4 tsp paprika 1/8 tsp dried tarragon 3 green onions, sliced 1 tomato, sliced 1. Preheat oven to 350F 2. Roll fish into small rolls and place seam side down in ungreased baking dish. Sprinkle with salt & pepper. 3. In a bowl, blend together sour cream, parmesan, paprika and tarragon. Spread over the fish and bake 20 minutes or until fish flakes easily. Top with green onion and tomato, serve hot. Steamed Tilapia Source Marilyn (DanaIN) Season filets on flesh side as desired with fresh ground pepper, sea salt and herbs of your choice. I like to use Cajun seasoning sometimes. Drizzle with a good extra\-virgin olive oil. Drizzle a little more olive oil in a non\-stick skillet over medium heat until hot. Place filets in hot skillet seasoned side down for 3 to 4 minutes, carefully turn over, add 1 tablespoon dry white wine (or chicken broth) for each filet, place a lid on the skillet and remove from the heat. Fish will be done in 3 minutes. Preheat your oven's broiler. Grease a broiling pan or line pan with aluminum foil. 2\. In a small bowl, mix together the Parmesan cheese, butter, mayonnaise and lemon juice. Season with dried basil, pepper, onion powder and celery salt. Mix well and set aside. 3\. Arrange fillets in a single layer on the prepared pan. Broil a few inches from the heat for 2 to 3 minutes. Flip the fillets over and broil for a couple more minutes. Remove the fillets from the oven and cover them with the Parmesan cheese mixture on the top side. Broil for 2 more minutes or until the topping is browned and fish flakes easily with a fork. Be careful not to over cook the fish. Linda

Yes, I suppose it's as Mark Twain once said: the things you do because you want to do them are fun, but as soon as you have to do it, it becomes work. Even in our well-populated stream, catching enough for ten (or nine, since I didn't care about any for myself) each morning took a while. (They had the lake stocked once a year, so we weren't depleting the wild ones, incidentally. The day the trout truck came, it was always followed by a string of cars and trucks tracking where it was going.)
