best dwarf tangerine, lemon, lime & fig?
Comments (17)The ultra dwarf on flying dragon are described as slow growing perhaps getting to 10 ft if I recall correctly. Many times only up to 7-8 ft. I'm hear it can make the fruit 40% smaller not just the crop smaller. After much reading I just bought 3 in san diego at pacific tree farms. They have a 25% off going out of biz sale. They were $32 before discount. I wanted to choose trees that fruited at different times so I can have fruit all yr. I got the cara cara navel orange. dec-mar kishu dwarf mandarin oct-dec And one I may return. Its the honey tangerine. I was told it could hold fruit until july but no sorce on the internet agrees. It also has many seeds. It turns out the pixie is the one I probably want. It is seedless, holds fruit until around july and is supposed to taste great. That should just leave me fruitless from aug-sept. Any good suggestions to fill that gap :) ? I still need to find out what roosstck they use on mine. They are from durling nursery. So consider fruiting time in your decision. I didn't want just the best fruit but the best fruit at any one time of the year. 600 lbs of citrus all in jan probably wont do you alot of good. Comments (2)you could train it to be dwarf. regular root and top growth pruning will keep it small. Basically like how bonsai growers keep normally huge trees small. Even dwarf trees can become pretty big if left alone. im sure someone knows where to find meyers on dwarf rootstock. Mike...See MoreDwarf Key Lime Tree- Brand New
Comments (4)Acorn Springs didn't impress me, so I encourage you to contact them over and over till they respond. They are great when you want to purchase! I ordered an olive tree, and instantly many leaves got brown tips. Some were yellow and fell off. I tried to reach them by phone and email. No response at all! I didn't even suggest a return. I just wanted to know what to do. On Garden Web someone suggested to repot, fertilize immediately, and so I did that. Took the poor thing to a nursery here in town and she told me what olives like. Whew!! Finally no more new brown tips, many leaves staying green, but no new leaves yet. Good luck!!...See MoreHow do I grow my kaffir lime tree main stem (dwarf variety)
Comments (3)if you can post a picture that would help with and assessment. I couple of ideas that come to mind would be this the tree will naturally try and grow upright so you could leave it be and see if a new branch tries to become the new leader. You could train the branch you have left to be the new leader by using the techniques that bonsai growers use. I had an off balance meyer that I tied one branch off to the pot to pull it the direction I wanted it to grow. After a couple of months it kept that direction on its own You could "pug" it meaning cutting the whole tree off, ABOVE THE GRAFT and let the new branches that will grow form the new canopy. the main trunk will most likely flush new growth at or just below the cut and will grow vertically again if it doesnt die off. Give it some good fertilizer and wait it out. Mike...See MorePea
