Spring is always filled with so many plant shows and swap, but there is always one I find out about a little too late.

Last year we had a thread where everyone listed up and coming shows and swaps so I figured we should do it again this year.

Here are the ones I know that are coming up soon.

April 11 & 12 USF Plant Sale (Tampa)

April 25 & 26 Green Thumb Festival (St Pete)

Here's a list of plant festivals at the USF botanical gardens:

Orchid and Rose Fantasy May 9-10
Butterfly, Herb, and Native Plant Fair June 13-14
Tropical Plant Fair July 11-12
Bromeliad Bash August 8-9

They usually have a fall plant sale too but they haven't posted dates yet.

The Palm Beach Palm and Psycho, I mean Cycad Society will have their Show and Sale at Caloosa Park in Boynton Beach on:

SATURDAY APRIL 4th 9am to 4pm
SUNDAY APRIL 5th 9am to 4pm.

The DEERFIELD BEACH ARBORETUM will have our sale on:

SATURDAY APRIL 18th from 9am to 4pm

Well, if you missed either of the sales today, you probably didn't miss much. Fewer vendors were at each locations. And, generally, the plants were the same stuff you find at Walmart, but just a lot more expensive. The really cool things often seen at the Ijams sales were just not there. Next up will be... I'm bumping this post up to remind everyone about the UT Arboretum Society Spring Plant Sale this weekend. There will be hundreds of trees, shrubs, vines, perennials, herbs, and maybe even a few annuals. Plants will be provided by Beaver Creek Nursery, East Fork Nursery, Greenbriar Nursery, Riverdale Nursery, and Sunlight Gardens, as well as from The University of Tennessee Arboretum Society. Some of the featured plants will include: Abelia chinensis 'Rose Creek' Gardenia jasminoides 'Kleim's Hardy' Hydrangea macrophylla 'Penny Mac' Hydrangea paniculata 'Limelight' Lagerstromia indica 'Pocomoke' Loropetalum chinensis 'Burgundy' Raphiolepis indica Yucca filamentosa 'Birght Edge' You wouldn't believe some of the stuff I've gotten DIRT cheap at these sales. Some of the things the UTAS members donate are just unbelievably good deals. And even the more commercially provided stuff is definitely worth the trip! Bloomin' Art & Plant Sale at Heathcote, 210 Savannah Road, Fort Pierce. This is half a block east of U. S. #1--two streets south of the intersection with Virginia Ave. (Sabal Palm Plaza). On I-95, the exit for SR 70, follow signs to U. S. #1.

This year, free admission for all. In past years, only members got in free.

The convention is $245, bus tours $50
Obviously paying that much means you are a hard-core daylily fan but but seeing the various gardens with daylilies in peak bloom would be great.

The Brevard Rare Fruit Council is having their yearly sale on Saturday, April 25 from 8am to 4pm in Melbourne (flyer says at the Auditorium at the corner of Fee Ave. and Lake St.).

I know Ricky has a plant swap coming up, but I am not sure what day. Can someone post his info?

Don't forget your coupon. If you didn't get a coupon in the mailed, you can usually print one off their website.

Ricky's Swap a Que is April 19th. There is a current post about that one.

I am having a swap in Deland on April 25th.

Karalynn is having a swap (I think she is in Citrus county) on May 9th.

Also, the Volusia County Master Gardener Plant Faire is April 4th. Here is the blurb on it:

Plant sale: Thousands of plants will be offered at the Volusia County Master Gardeners' 11th annual Plant Faire from 8:30 a.m. to noon April 4 at the Volusia County Agricultural Center, 3100 E. New York Ave., DeLand. Admission is free. There will also be a silent auction, book sale, seed sale and vendors offering other plants and garden-related material. Master gardeners will be available to answer questions.
