I don't know if it is perfect but Inherited Wealth is awfully good.

It's hard to pick just one. I think I'd have to go with Rainbow Radiance. It always has good form and never has that one odd petal that wants to go cattywampus. It always has good color and is never blotchy. It looks as good at the end of the day as it does at the beginning. It never has trouble opening. It increases quickly and it's fertile (DIP). Best of all, it's under $10. This is an early morning pic when it's color is the darkest.

Wow, I don't know which one I have that is "perfect" -- I'm too new to daylilys, but I know that the 3 pics you have above are beautiful. I love all 3 of them.

Kathy - I'm so glad to hear that Rainbow Radiance is such a good daylily! I got it at our club sale last summer and it should be blooming soon. I really like your photo too.

Shores of Time is gorgeous too. I don't know if any of my daylilies are perfect, but China Bride is my best rebloomer.

Shive I have to go with SHORES OF TIMES pod mate {{gwi:788448}} This is WREN'S SONG and I like her better because she is taller and the bloom is bigger. It is one of the few daylilies around here that will have normal scape height this year.

LOL, Kathy, I haven't heard "cattywampus" in a while. My Mom always used that word. Recently one of my kids popped out with it - must have heard it from Grandma.

'Rainbow Radiance' is lovely - I really like its form and color. Boy, "perfect" is really hard to pin down, but RR looks near-perfect to me. In my own yard, that's harder to quantify, since many of my daylilies are new. I like the bold, open form of an oldie but goodie, 'Chicago Apache':

I also like the elegant, old-fashioned 'Hyperion':

I can't really say I have a picture of my "perfect" flower - yet. Just wait till I have blooms this year, then I may fine one. . . .

I'm with Kay on Beautiful Edgings. Not only is it absolutely gorgeous, and every bloom perfect, but it can't be beaten for garden performance. Mine continued to bloom last year on the same scapes for two straight months. The number of fans approximately doubles every year. I divided mine to give some away this year - after a week or two of transplant shock the remaining fans proceeded to put up 10 scapes loaded with buds. And, it's not expensive.

You ask a question like that and my goofy side wants to say "I haven't bloomed it yet." But since that might be considered arrogant, I will refrain. I have never seen a bad bloom on "Custard Candy". Although it might be considered by some as dated, it deserved all it's awards. Bob

I sure love that Red one,and Beautiful edgings.Gorgeous.I am new to DL's so wouldn't know a perfect one if I had it.To me,they all pretty much perfect,and I don't care if they are perfect anyway,as long as they bloom a long time and pretty colors.

Among the older cultivars I'm growing, Ming Porcelain, Imperial Empress, Pure and Simple, Betty Warren Woods, Sherry Lane Carr, Fairy Tale Pink, Ferengi Gold and Mount Fuji are all plants I look at when in bloom and just marvel at their beauty....I think they are about perfect to me....and what about First Knight? There are so many but what is perfect? I just don't know.....some great plants listed and even greater pics. Great topic, cheers, lloyd...and how can you not include Darla Anita?

Hmmm perfect. I haven't had any newer CV's long enough to say they are perfect. I have lots that aren't perfect. MAny of my older CV's Bloom close to perfect year after year. Daring Deception, Trahlyta, El desperato, Siloam Rainbow Magic,Prairie Blossoms,Little Grapette, ORchid Corsage...to name a few still take my breath away.

Interesting thread. At this point in our crazy-weather season, I'd say any daylily that bloomed!

I just got Beautiful Edgings this Spring and after that wonderful rave about it... I am excited about it finally blooming (although that might be next year!)

Newyorkrita- the place that I got China Bride from went out of business, but you can get it from Cottage Gardens for $5. I was very happy with an order I received from them last spring. Since they're in New York, maybe you could even visit.

I ordered China Bride a few years ago after reading Diana Grenfell's "The Gardener's Guide to Growing Daylilies" because this is what she said about it: "Round, ruffled, recurved, delicate rose-pink, deeper rose-pink veining, subtle rose halo, yellow eye blending into a deep green heart, cream-pink sepals. Usually magnificent branching with well-displayed large flowers, opening well for weeks on end and a good rebloomer, its only fault being somewhat thin foliage. Breathtaking. Very popular." It's supposed to be an early bloomer, but it blooms midseason for me.

It has a wonderful color, it's generous in rebloom and increase, and gives you a few prolifs. I love it!

Beautiful Edgings is very nice as well. I have grown it, but like Big Smile, which is similar in color, a bit better. Every bloom is the same shape and coloring.

Laurie - sorry I don't really remember how much substance China Bride has - I think an average amount. She doesn't have very heavy substance, but she's not flimsy either.

As I read this post, I keep changing my mind, but I'll go with my first choice, "Fairy Tail Pink', because it grows well in all lights conditions from full sun to partial shade, and from fairly heavy clay to former cow pasture soil. The delicate pink blends in well with most other flower colors.

What a great thread. I'm glad to see someone else grows "Big Smile". It's blooms nearly all season for me. It will set a pod if a speck of pollen floats by it. It multiplies faster than any other plant I have. I'm not sure if it's perfect, but it sure is a good one.

My older favorites are: Nordic Night, Evening Enchantment, All Fired Up, and gee whiz, most any of the spiders(ufo) like: Peacock Maiden, Fellow, Marked by Lydia and I could go on forever.

My newest favorite: I'd say a tie between Shores of Time and Arctic Lace. Victorian Lace is right up there too.

Could I pick one, Nope, just can't.

Wow.....great thread to start Debra! Out of the thousands of daylilies I grow, just too hard to pick ONE PERFECT, lots of the above mentioned I would have to agree as I do grow some of them. A new one to me this year that has really impressed me as a perfect flower, would be Claudine's Charm because you cannot tell it is a new transplant, it's like it took off running like it had never been uprooted and shipped! OH AND I think it is such a BEAUTIFUL flower!

Mona, the picture of Big Smile I posted IS from YOU! You sent it to me 3 years ago and I smile very time I walk by it and think of you. That is one of the reasons that it is so special to me. I had had such a hard time finding it to buy and you and I set up a trade. I so appreciated it at the time and still do.

I agree, it is SO hard to have to pick just one favorite daylily. Lady Neva produces gorgeous flowers. I love the delicate color of China Bride too. Lipstick Ring looks like it would be a vibrant beauty whether it poly'd or not. And Rainbow Radiance is such a nice shape and color. I'm glad that I can grow a lot of daylilies and don't have to just grow one.

Your SHORES OF TIME has such deep rich color! Mine never got that dark this year. GRANDMA'S SMILE is a pretty pink too.

I'm going to have to find out more about LIVING IN LUXURY. Don't know much about that one.

Love everyone's "perfect" dl's. This year, I'd have to say Belle Cook had the top spot on my perfect dl list. It's had perfect blooms from the FFO to the recent rebloom ones. Here's morning and evening photos of the same blooms.

I see your pictures of Shores of Time and Belle Cook and I can't wait for mine to bloom. I have one scape on Shores of Time and two on Belle Cook. Two other new additions that have me hoping for perfection are JT Davis and Victorian Lace.

Debra, for some reason ( I know not what) most of my pinks and purple shades were darker this year. SOT has a couple of rebloom blooms on her now and is just as dark. My really dark ones were almost black. One exception is Dash It. That dude is lighter...Ellie

Edward, you're going to love BC as for GS...one day, I'm going to have that one too!! :) My JTD is putting up a rebloom scape right now, so I'm going to get more of that great pollen to spread around...lol...not to mention the fabulous blooms. All it's blooms were perfect also!
