Geesh... I leave for a week, and I am so behind! Pollinating all these flowers is now taking an hour a day! Whew.

What a pretty group of pics! Star Child and your seedling #003 are my favorites... I think... I keep scrolling up and down and changing my mind.

Thanks Glenn! I saw the plants you brought back from the show, very nice! , caught a bit of the J's myself-__- Penny, much thanks! Just to let you know, the photos above in thumbnails are from Rian's collection. He's some years ahead of me in this effort. Most of my babies (Mesembs, Aloes, Agave, Anacampseros, Avonia, Haworthia, Gasteria are not ready for sale yet, maybe next summer. I've also been propagating from leaves for a few years and have narrowed that down to the more select, less available plants. I've been preparing lots of those for local sale, just to get the ball rolling. Much of what I'm doing is practice and education, preparation for my future plans which I probably shouldn't discuss in this venue. The "Sea of Haworthia" is actually a shipment I received, planted very close together in a shallow tray. I did this only because I hadn't received my plastic pots yet. They plumped up a bit after planting but have only been that way for about 4 months. I'm sure they'll let me know when they want out! The M. crystallinum is one of my favorites.Those droplets are actually water cells that will break if touched. The flower buds have fat cells while the leaves have tiny ones. I got the seeds on Santa Cruz Island last Summer. They grew faster than any other Mesemb I planted. I'll post a link below to my thread from last summer about our island adventure. Chris, It took it some time to settle in. I moved it early this spring so was surprised the blooms looked half way decent on it!. I'm sure glad you gave up on it and sent it to me cuz I sure love the pretty blooms and there are LOTS of buds on it now. Debra, Thank you! I sure wished my shots looked as good as yours...LOL! Your clump shot of Cret. Crunch has a lot more bite than mine, but I sure love it! It took a good two years settling time for it to show it's bite. Purple Side Effects was added to my garden last fall. I ordered Bass Gibson and Ruckus from Throughbred and Annette sent PSE as bonus! Purple Cheetah was added last fall as well. Jean, I would be happy to send you some banned in Boston once it cools down a little bit, email me through my page. Natanya, Adorable Tiger is even more striking in person, can't explain it, but this beauty is bright! I really LOVE IT! Candy Cane Dreams is another of my favorites. It seems to glow to me! Val, Thank you. Clarification has been a proven winner, the deer never seemed to eat it's buds....LOL Now that I have it within a protected fence, I plan to do some hybridizing with it. Thanks everyone. The last two have been around several years and I don't really know what to do with them. I don't think they are distinctive enough to register, but as garden plants they perform way better than lots of my registered daylilies. What do the rest of you who hybridize do with plants like this. I've composted plenty of prettier faces because they had low bud counts or were crowded and top budded. The first two flowers I posted are first ever blooms so I'm hoping they improve. I'll post a picture of the wall when I get a chance. Val

They are all fabulous, I can't pick a favorite from any of these, they are all too nice. :) I wish I had the time to pollinate more flowers, by the time I get home from work, it's too late, or the ones I would like to cross with each other aren't blooming at the same time. Oh well. I guess fewer seeds means fewer seedlings to have to build beds for. Thanks for sharing! Karen

Wonderful!
My favourite is Navy Blues. I always love the yellows so Going Bannanas was a very close second.
I would think that 1 hour pollinating would be a conservative estimate with all those beauties. I will have to wait a while for any of those to be available in Australia......Will be worth the wait!

You've had a beautiful day! My favorites are Star Child, Little Blue Bell and seedling 3. I tinkered Little Blue Bell and foudn Little Blue Belle. Is that the same? Wow, they are so cute! Does anyone know if they act as SEVs or Evergreen in zone 9b? I love the flowers and the foliage on that one. Seedling 003 is an eye popper too. It's too bad they last but a day.

I REALLY like that EARLENE GARBER. That's such a feminine looking flower. I've never see it before. VERY BERRY ICE, WEST COAST BLUES, ................Love seedingling #3, and LOVE seedling #4. I bet #4 glows.

Wow...so many pretty ones...haven't picked a fav from your named dl's as yet but that #003 seedling is my fav of your seedlings. I think PGB is going to have to get my vote for fav of the named ones, now that I've looked through them several times. :)

Wow, Your yard must look even more beautiful with all the daylilies popping out. I was wondering where you were, hadn't seen any post and thought it odd.

WOW.. First of all, thanks for making my night and sharing all of these pics with us. I am still waiting for my first bloom.. ugh ... lol
Second of all, what does one have to do to get a fan of seedling #3??????????? Wash and wax your car, mow your lawn for a year plus edge and trim????? lol

Thanks for all the kind comments...

Seedling 003 keeps changing its eyezone... all of them being very cool! First year to bloom, so I need to keep an eye on it over the next year. Seems like the hot weather made the eyezone more intense.

Mike - I don't know how you make it! I was going out every day in MARCH... thinking, it is spring already... bloom dang you! :o) I bet they are building up their strength to put on a real show for you.

Jacqueline - That Going Bananas is a monster bloomer. If you can ever get your hands on some, you should. Each clump has 10 scapes up at a time. 17 blooms today on three small clumps. Beautiful form, and the picture does not do the yellow color justice - is it super bright and clear. Stands out from the crowd!

Missy - Little Blue Belle is right... sorry.

Lrae, I took a chance on Earlene Garber... wasn't exactly sure how it would turn out... I could really only find one picture of it, but mine turned out just like the picture. The pink is kind of irridecent in real life, making the color really beautiful.

Thanks Barb... been running around like mad in the mornings! Pictures, pollinating, collecting pollen...whew! Had a really nice weekend away in California - but glad to be back with my DL! :o)

Barb... hmmm.... have to think of something! Weaknesses - wine, food (especially baked goods), daylilies! Glad you like seedling 003. Can't wait 'till it multiplies and makes a clump!

Good grief woman, You and Debra are gona battle to see who has more blue eyed daylilies! LOL All I can say is wow. Love Hi ho silver, ive been waiting on the price of that one to come down. Little blue bell, West coast blues, star child all gorgeous. That seedling 003 ----- amazing! One of your creations? Bet your like a kid in a candy store right about now. Its nice to come home to all those blooms huh! Oh- let me know how out of the blue does for you, I just love that one! Here is a pic of my fav. blue eyed DL so far (some of my newer ones haven't bloomed yet)

You have some gorgeous flowers! They're a real joy to see this morning. Great seedlings, too - #004 is my favorite. I'll bet it really glows in the garden. It's elegant. I seem to be into soft colors this morning - I also loved 'Cantique' and 'Neusa Gergemann.'

jessica - now I just need to trade with Debra and we'd really corner the market on blue eyes! Actually, a lot of her posts inspired me... I love blue eyes and watermarks. Your Enchanted Illusion is lovely. Out of the Blue just came this spring, and it is blooming its head off. All my plants (including OOTB) that came from Daylily Manor are doing really wonderful - they sent very healthy plants. If I had any more room, I would totally buy from them again. In fact.... I have been thinking about moving some bushes... :o)~
