nancy playing catch up part one

Well folks, here I am chasing my tail again! I sure have enjoyed seeing all your photos and will try to post some here that I haven't seen posted to expand the vast variety of our daylily world. All of these have been blooming here in Northwest Arkansas this past week of June. Part two to come.

Oh man, you are really making it difficult to pick a favorite as they all look good. I have seen CANDY CANE DREAMS blooming in another Long Island garden and it is a cutie. Love yours. Primal Scream is always a winner. And I also have to pick CLARIFICATION. A really nice daylily.

Can ya believe my DH (who is not a shopper) sat in the truck and waited for me for one of those stores??? I seen it on the way in and was about to break my neck to look. I didn't even ask him and when we left town, he pulled in and said ,"ok, hon, ya got 30 minutes." What a sweetie! Kudzu,that is so funny! I paid 50 cents for mine. I almost didn't see it, it was behind the little gate when I picked it up. oh, luna, I know! We would have a blast shopping together!! Sunny, I'm such a dummy, I didn't even think to look! All I could see was a little seat or birdbath for my gr'daughters to put in the fairy garden we are making. I will look, though when I get home tonight! Thx, for the heads-up, Karen, I'll keep a look-out for Kirk lurking around my cabin treasures!LOL!! But, ya know, it would be fun to go shopping with him and Carol,cuz we like the same decor, although we'd be fighting over the bears!!!!LOL! Debra, the color on Aztec Beauty is fantastic. I must say that all it has going for it though. I hate the form and the plainess of it. I knew you would like Applique since you have it.. Jean, that's FFO on Absolute Treasure. I bought more than one daylily that they told me was this one. They were wrong but I finally got it from a friend a couple of years ago. I've not been sorry. Brittie, she's isn't a pure pink but shes close enough to suit me since I love the pinks so much!! Becky, I am thrilled for you. Once you begin planting and see blooms in your garden, you will really be in love with them. Christine, AB does have a lovely color, so I agree with that part. I really don't like it much for the same reasons that you like it.. Concrete Empire was a long time not blooming but I think it was worth the wait.. Thank you Kay and Thank you all for your input!! You mentioned that your purples and darks are quite saturated this year, and that was exactly my reaction seeing your photos. Beautiful intense color and I especially like Grape Velvet, Francis of Assisi and Creature of the Night. I have also noticed that the color of hydrangeas this year has an intensity of blue and purple that I've never seen before. My blue hydrangeas are the color of lobelia. Does anyone know what might be causing this? (I don't treat them to tweak the color.) Christine

Poppy looks happy to be surveying the garden flowers. How shady is it there by the garage? I see blooms on those daylilies there. I don't know if you like asiatic lilies but they thrive in much less sun than optimum for daylilies. Also upright sedums don't need that much sun and look great with hosta or lilies. I bet Catmint with grow wonderfully these too. If you going to do some redoing of that bed, consider putting some nice sturdy trellis back up near the garage walls and plant some vines. Many of the vining honeysuckles bloom almost all the time. KEY TO MY HEART is my pick of this lovely batch of blooms.

Rita, Candy Cane Dreams took a couple years to settle in, doing really well this year. I want to cross it to pink stripes, so saving some pollen from it.

Tons of goodies here. I'm glad Banned in Boston seems to be doing well for you. I think I finally gave up on it here. Those cute little bi-tones don't seem to like me much. Both Party Pinafore and Choo Choo Fantasy have been given their final warning this year.

What a wonderful group of photos! My favorites are the clump shots of Applique, Chinese Watercolor and Primal Scream. Possible Side Effects and Purple Cheetah also caught my eye. Your Cretaceous Crunch sure has plety of bite. That one does very well here.

Chris, It took it some time to settle in. I moved it early this spring so was surprised the blooms looked half way decent on it!. I'm sure glad you gave up on it and sent it to me cuz I sure love the pretty blooms and there are LOTS of buds on it now.

Debra, Thank you! I sure wished my shots looked as good as yours...LOL! Your clump shot of Cret. Crunch has a lot more bite than mine, but I sure love it! It took a good two years settling time for it to show it's bite. Purple Side Effects was added to my garden last fall. I ordered Bass Gibson and Ruckus from Throughbred and Annette sent PSE as bonus! Purple Cheetah was added last fall as well.

Natanya, Adorable Tiger is even more striking in person, can't explain it, but this beauty is bright! I really LOVE IT! Candy Cane Dreams is another of my favorites. It seems to glow to me!

Val, Thank you. Clarification has been a proven winner, the deer never seemed to eat it's buds....LOL Now that I have it within a protected fence, I plan to do some hybridizing with it. PSE is too new to comment.

ELLIE....LOL...Does that mean that one will be on your list of wants for our spring trade list?
