Tuesday morning daylilies

I was out pretty early, some haven't quite opened yet. Things are starting to really pop though, I have several I haven't posted yet, at least this year

Jungle Ballet-listed as early, but I have a few mid season daylilies blooming before it.

Cindy's Tie Dye, very first bloom. Very pretty, a little short

Two Part Harmony not doubling. First bloom I've had on it, I'm not sure I would like it better as a double, I really think this is striking

Barbara Mitchell looks nice. Inspired combination of the echinacea and Smugglers Gold. Really nice clump shot of Gordon Biggs and I'm with you on Two Part Harmony. I think it might not be as pretty as a double....Maryl

Thanks Jean! Instant Celebration is one of those Celebration of Angels look alikes of which there are many ha-ha. This one is a Korth Intro. My Celebration of Angels is way over in another garden so that I can't get the two of them mixed up! In the cucumber pictures I have the ones on the right which are bigger (older) plants. Those I had bought as seedlings and yes they have lots of flowers under those leaves and little tiny cucumbers. Then look on the left and you can see much smaller cucumber plants that I grew myself from seeds. Debra, thanks. Hearts Of Fire looks especially good to me this year. But then I always love those reds!

Lala - You will love Ada May Musick! Mine is planted next to August Frost, and with all the rain we've had, that one grew gargantuan fans (4 feet tall) and stole a lot of Ada's sunshine. She's not as tall for me this year, and she doesn't have the great branching she had in the past. But she'll still have a pretty long run, and hopefully will rebloom. Julie Newmar's another irresistible girl. I hope she does well for you up there. I have a big clump of Bali Watercolor now - 11 fans. The scapes don't have a lot of buds this year, but I've got plenty of scapes. Michelle - You really lucked out getting TRUE NORTH by mistake. I understand it's an incredible rebloomer. Sue - Hillbilly Heart is a great one. I highly recommend it. Rita - I was out at 6:15 a.m., but the heavy dew stayed around until about 10. If often does that here in June. Ellie - You are right. That's honeysuckle. But it's become a weed here and is strangling daylilies and clematis on the side of the house. Chris and Kay - Freedom's Triumph is a really vibrant color. It's not an early morning opener, like I prefer, but the dew doesn't marr it , so that's a plus. Debra

Maybe the quality of the store depends on the store manager? The one closest to my house is awful but the one closest to my work is absolutely terrific. The folks that work there obviously care about it and keep everything very neat. The selection is excellent. I just picked up a Peacock Alley sheet set for $36.00. Nothing wrong with it - it had just been repackaged. I've done a fair amount of Christmas shopping there and found some real bargains. The damaged and chipped stuff was in it's own area in the "good" store but in other stores it sometimes just get mixed in. If you are in the neighborhood you might check it out a few times. Linda

Photobucket is messin' with me like it has been with Jean. I don't know why the photo of Hillbilly Heart is bigger & sideways. Mine do show longthwise in Photobucket though, I just didn't bother playing with it.

I really am liking Two Part Harmony, very much afraid I won't like it nearly as much when it doubles, but we'll see. Barbara Mitchell is starting off looking really good this year.

I really like BARBARA MITCHELL. I had several blooms on my BUBBLES GALOR, but didnt take a pictue of it. wasnt open while I was taking pictures and told myself I will come back later and get one, but,i forgot all about it.LOve your CINDY'S TIE DYE, VERY PRETTY.HILLBILLY HEART IS A PRETTY THING also.it sure likes to bloomGORDON BIGGS IS gorgeous, LOVE THAT one.You really have some pretty ones.

Roady has to go with you on your garden walks to make sure you don't miss anything! Lots of pretty daylilies today but I like Merry Witch the best.

Thanks Avedon & Julia. Last year was the first time I liked Gordon Biggs at all, it had been splotchy til then. This year it has really looked good, not splotchy & opens nicely, plus lots of blooms. It has just gotten big enough it almost needs dividing, but I'm not messing with this one til it stops blooming or takes over the garden :)
Jean, I really like Bubbles Galore, it always seems to open well. Funny, last year it was more yellow, but this year it has more of a flesh tone.
Rita, Merry Witch was new last year, I liked the bloom but it has really improved this year & I love its bright color.
Roady says thank you, he knows he is a handsome fellow. He gets too puffed up with himself sometimes, I explain that there are better looking cats out there, but he just doesn't believe me.

You've got a lot of pretty ones blooming today. That clump of Gordon Biggs is gorgeous. And Hillbilly Heart is just as pretty as it can be.

I am not usually big on doubles, and I really like Two Part Harmony as pictured.

Cindy's Tie Fye and Merry Witch are both really pretty, but the clump of Gordon Biggs wins my vote today.
