Will a thuja green Giant survive and grow

I have planted some Green Giants and they seem to be doing well . My other area thats on this same property line has some very mature Rhododendrums, this last Winter I lost two other Rhodies in another location. On the property line where I planted the other GG's I would like to plant some 3 ft Green Giants that would be behind the large existing Rhodies, I am afraid the shade from the mature Rhodies will maybe kill or prevent them from growing to meet the other size of Green Giants.

this is a privacy concern and I need something thats at least going to reach 20 ft tall and be a dense hedge but no wider then 8 ft, any other suggestions along with the green Giant issue is appreaciated
