Boy, when they sleep they really sleep.

Remembering the old saying first year they sleep, second year they creep and third they leap. My second year Jackamanii is doing great and swallowed my mailbox trellis with flowers and working on its second re-bloom. I planted a Niobe this spring and though it is still green it has not grown a single inch. It looks the same today as the day I put it in the ground. I have mums growing around it for shading the roots but I have to keep them trimmed quite a bit because they pretty much cover the whole little plant. I wonder if this would be the problem. I have put in a painted lady runner bean plant there to fill in the trellis a little bit while awaiting it to grow but this is kind of surprising that it hasn't grown at all.
