Comments (27)I would love to share photos of my two beautiful girls. Sasha was a stray who found me 8 years ago this month, in fact. I has just bought my home and had only been in it for a about a week or so. I was making my morning coffee in the kitchen, looked out the window and saw this tiny, 3-4 month old kitty curled up in some over-grown grass. She was in awful shape. You could see every bone in her body (hips, back, etc) and it appeared that someone had burned her head with cigarrettes. She had 2-3 round burn-holes on her head. I didn't want cat #3 and tried hard to find a proper home for her. But, I ended up so very attached to her and her sweet personality I couldn't stand to part with her. She was absolutely the most sweetest cat - always gave tons of kisses. The below picture captures her little personality quite well. Here's another one of my favorite pictures of Sasha: Below is of Sabrina, The Super Model. She was sleek, 100% jet black and exotic looking. She had a very strong will and personality. She despised everyone except for me- whom she adored. She went through alot healthwise - hyperthyroid, kidney disease and cardio-myopathy. Even my vet said she's never seen a cat with such an incredible will to survive. I think Sabrina hung on for me, knowing how devastated I would be when she passed. She is the only cat I actually picked out from the SPCA. They rest have all come into my life on their own. Actually, Sabrina picked me as well. I had spent over an hour looking at all kinds of cats and decided to 'think it over' and return the next day. Something made me turn around as I was almost to the exit. I looked and saw a cage of kittens that I had some how missed. All the kittens were asleep in a pile -- except for one. She was sitting straight up and staring intently at me and pressed against the cage. I "knew" she was the one. She was only 6 weeks old (they no longer adopt them out that young anymore, thank goodness...) and absolutely adorable. She grew up to be my most devoted companion and The Queen of the house. I sure do miss them both.......See MoreWWYD? A real doozy.
Comments (36)Oh, sigh... I should have known better than to reply because previous experience with Oakley's WWYD queries ought to have taught me that there isn't really much interest in others' viewpoints. Nobody was rude, not one person that I can see. The vast majority proposed that Oakley tactfully, graciously, but firmly, stand up for what she says she believes. Most people also stated that letting it slide was tacit acceptance of unacceptable attitudes. Although most did not, a few suggested confrontation. (if that is what is meant by "unfriending", I don't use FB so I don't know how it works but it sounds confrontational to me - the modern-day equivalent of the "cut direct"). I hope my suggestion which was to address this with Oakley's cousin didn't imply I wanted unpleasantness. I was only suggesting that she has an opportunity to speak up for what she feels is right - and perhaps move someone to a point a bit beyond racism. But I recall previous WWYD queries that devolved into hurt feelings because what was really wanted, apparently, wasn't suggestions or advice, but validation for Oakely's already-made opinion or actions. And Oakley, I don't think anybody was trying to embarrass you about how you write or spell. No long time reader/poster here could fail to perceive the active, intelligent brain inside your head. I think the reason Anele brought it up was to try and allay your concerns about your cousins' writing styles appearing ignorant or uneducated. People have varying abilities to write stuff according to the accepted rules. It often has nothing to with intelligence, or education. There are brain quirks involved, as well. It sounds like this is sore subject for you and that at some point someone made you feel bad about your writing style. I recall the apostrophe thread that you took such umbrage at. At the time I didn't think it was aimed at you, and I still don't. (If there was a thread about why some lazy, unschooled, ignorant people can;t figure out that there;s an apostrophe in contractions, not a semicolon, then I;d know they were aiming square at me. In this case it;s not spelling but typing errors. I wish someone could explain how to exchange the character production of those two keys - it would save me so much time!) I;m sure you can figure out what I mean with all my mis-typed semicolons, just like I can figure what you mean to say with a few extra 'postrophe's thrown in the mix. And the reason I read here is because I'm interested in what ideas posters have about things. If I wanted perfect I'd just read Fowler. If you're determined to take offense when none was intended, we can't stop you. But to my mind it's way too hot this summer to be stewing over something that hasn't happened. if you need a break, take one. Hope to see you back, soon. Comments (41)Well, we wound up exchanging it for a softer model, the Prodigy which cost $200.00 more each (hubby went ahead and changed his too) plus a hundred dollar return fee. It's a dream to sleep on, so it was completely worth it. We've had this replacement for two months now. After a week in the Savant, I could barely get out of the bed I was in so much pain. I have neck and upper back problems, so instead of waiting the 30 days they strongly suggest, we went back to the store. When I walked in, I couldn't even stand up straight. After discussing my needs to the sales lady, I laid on the Prodigy for a full half hour and walked upright out of the store after ordering a replacement. I'd have fallen asleep had the sales lady and my hubby not been talking and her asking how I felt now and then. I wound up cutting down our queen size 3" memory foam topper to fit the twin so I could sleep the week that it took to get the replacement. I love the Prodigy, and highly recommend that you buy from a place where you have the time to lay on it for fifteen minutes to a half hour before decided which one to buy. I have absolutely NO concept of time so I have no clue how long we laid before buying the first time. I timed it the second go round to make sure....See Morefunnygirl
