Hi plantlover, although I'm not in zone 6, I agree that the weather is beautiful. Here in zone 5 it feels like spring already, It's supposed to be even warmer tomorrow. I didn't even need a coat today! But its supposed to be freezing again by the end of the week :(

Yep - 67 here today in Illinois.

Aaaaaaaaaaand along with that - we have tornado warnings (in January?!?!?) and some flash flood watches. (grin)

But all in all - it's been really interesting!

I used to do daycare so all poisonous plants had to kept out of the play area. Totally understandable to me. When you have a bunch of 2 year olds its better to play it safe. I no longer do daycare and my children are older. So I have no problem planting brugs or anything else in all areas of my yard. I dont put them close to the fence by my one neighbor cause they have puppies and I would hate to harm them if they were stupid enough to eat them. My other side of the yard there are no puppies or small children so it is loaded. lol My children are older and they know better. But to know better they have to be tought better and usually that doesnt happen. BTW regarding the drug wars. Kids will learn better with the basic facts. Trying to make it cute or funny doesnt work. When I was a teen the this is your brain and this is your brain on drugs with the egg in the skillet was the big THIS WILL KEEP THEM FROM DOING DRUGS. Lol I know more kids that tried it cause it had to be good if they were making that big of a deal of it. Ok this got long, but the short of it is, if that commercial was more along the lines of you will be nothing with no money and no life when you get older, those kids might have thought twice Carey

If you don't get weird weather occasionally, you'll never have the "remember when" stories like we shared last night here in Kansas, while our visiting daughter and granddaughter were getting tornado warnings on their phones for Tennessee, where they are from. Three years ago we were at our daughter's in Tennessee for Christmas and we were huddled in a bathroom due to tornado warnings. That was the year we gave our daughter an LED lantern as one of her gifts, and that, and the small flashlights I always carry in my purse were our source of light during a power outage that lasted 6-hours. And my thoughts and prayers go out for the people in Mississippi because of a tornadoes last night, and the lives lost and homes destroyed. Another year we left Kansas in frigid temperatures in the high teens and ice and snow and enjoyed a nearly 60° swing to the 70's in Tennessee. How do you dress and pack for that? Yet one more memorable trip where we drove in blinding snow for 9-hours, and the 12-hour trip took 15!!! We followed what seemed like the only snow plow in the State all the way through Kentucky that day.... Or the year on the return trip when we got on I-70 at St. Louis, our neighbor called to tell us they hired someone to remove the 15" of snow from our drive before we got home. (What wonderful neighbors!) We've made this trip for so many years I've got lots of crazy weather-related stories....

Flowers, the rootstock on my AL is multiflora, I'm pretty sure--now I'm not so sure. I guess I assumed it was multiflora because Hortico is in Canada--this was in 2013. Maybe it's something else, but the Palatine rose is different in some ways than the trademarked Luise rose. Maybe the rose I have came straight from Tantau on the rootstock they use. I know at the time, people on the forum were saying that Hortico got their roses from many different sources. I prefer Dr Huey for this desert soil, and yes, I have roses where the rootstock changed the blooms to some degree. The blooms tend to be better on doc here, but sometimes there is no difference. Dweeb. good to see u r still around.Please tell me what is it? that you don't like about the photo gallery? i don't know how to post pics on the forum. as soon as i get it figured out, i'll be glad to post as many pics as everyone wants. everyone will get so tired of looking at my pictures, i'll get posts to stop putting my pictures up and you'll want to throw your camera's at me. lol. ps: wish you we're here to see the 6 ft cactus and an amaryllis in the same pot blooming. thanks for your time. plantlover49.

I'm in 7a and it was gorgeous today, in the 60's. Tomorrow is supposed to be around 70 but the rain is supposed to start tomorrow night. I'll definitely enjoy what I can of it. Last winter we were near 60 for most of the winter, until mid Jan. Plantlover what gallery did you post photos in? I looked in the gallery section of this forum and didn't see anything and the main gallery confused me as well. I couldn't figure how to look up a specific group of photos. Hopefully you'll be able to post here so that we can all enjoy your pics.

Hey guys, We have had some nice weather in TX 7B since saturday and the rest of this week is going to be nice.Came home from work to find all the kids out in the driveway playing. We are in winter season right?

Karyn.go back click photo-gallery over to the right they have different sections my photos under summer beauty.the other is sheads and greenhouses. click on that on. when it brings up the pictures you will see all kinds of plant on tables.shelves that's my greenroom with lots of brugs in there. thanks plantlove49

It's been pouring rain since I posted last nite.

There is water everywhere!

It's going to be 50s today and we're headed toward the 30s - which means it's all going to turn to ice almost over nite!
