Can't believe I found all of you!!

I am so excited to have found this site, and a little sad to think of all the time I missed out on. I love gardening and look forward to sharing and learning from all of you. Daylilies are my passion and I have met the most wonderful people through my gardening. I was so thrilled to have Pat Stamile name one of his gorgeous plants after my grandson who passed away. It is called The Band Played On and it's flowers are as beautiful as Erik was. I look forward to learning from all of you on this terrific site. I give garden tours and serve lunch when I have time away from Camp Friendship.

Welcome! I have to admit that I know a lot less than most of the other fine people here, but that is what is so great about this place. I have learned so much and love looking at the garden pictures everyone posts. Hope to see some of yours.

WOW!!! I know that was a hard thing to do. I kept waiting for the Polydamas butterflies to find my calico vine but they didn't touch it this year. It took me a while to finally give in and cut back one of the vines that had latched onto a light pole on the other side of my fence. That one worked it's way up to the top of the pole and it was covering the transformer - figured I better cut it down before it caused a power outage!!! Have yet to cut back my yellow morning glory vine though...that one has covered two 16 foot long fence panels, covered a 10 foot tall pony palm and worked its way up into my neighbor's oak tree :o) That's what he gets for allowing the branches hang over into my yard :o) ~ Cat

I'm not an MD or a Vet and have never played one on TV (or radio), but...don't people diagnosed with Lyme take antibiotics for *many* months??? Not necessarily. It depends on a number of things, including the duration of the illness and the number (and identity) of any co-infections. It's very hard to say if an individual is getting proper treatment. As for me, I could pinpoint the day my symptoms started (before I found the tick), and I thought, based on my reading, that there was a good chance the bacteria could be knocked out by a month of doxy on top of the 10 days of amoxicillin the doctor had already prescribed. So far so good, although I'm still nervous about the whole thing. If any symptoms come back, I'll have to resort to seeing an LLMD (Lyme-Literate MD). I would not look forward to that. There are no LLMDs in my area, so I'd have to travel--and probably pay quite a bit if s/he doesn't take Medicare.

Sandy, I was concerned because I heard that Hideout tends to spread and may not really be a mini. I didn't want it to be too crowded. But if I can butt that garden border wall out a few inches, that will allow me to make the space. You are right; always room for another hosta!

Welcome aboard. We have lots of fun here and share information. As soon as bloom season starts we all post pictures of our lovely daylilies.

If you go to this website linked below you can find out more about daylilies and maybe find a club in your area to join. Look on the left hand side and click on Regional Information. It will take you to a map where all the regions are listed. I am in Region 12 which is the State of Florida.

I warn you - this forum will deplete your pocketbook. You will see so many gardens and daylilies you may be tempted to dig up the whole backyard like I did. I have approx. 200 daylilies.
