Kill a tree stump without harming nearby Oak

User

My wife and I recently purchased a home with a small back yard and many poorly placed peach trees. I have cut down several of them, and I am left with one more peach tree that is 7 feet from a beautiful oak tree. Both trees are 5" in diameter, but the peach tree is simply too close to the house. What is an effective way to kill the stump and roots without harming the oak tree's roots? I will be using a stump grinder to remove the stumps completely, but I do not know if that is enough to kill the roots. Any help or advice is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Austin
