The first thing to look at are the leaves. Modern hybrid teas in most cases have smooth glossy or semi glossy leaves. Older hybrid teas can have a rough texture on the leaves which is much more common on them during the fifties and sixties. It could be a bourbon or hybrid perpetual based on fragrance and flower color but they are more prone to blackspot in the deep south.

A picture can tell us many more things about the rose in question.

I had the same problem/bonanza of lots of unidentified roses in my garden. The most helpful thing I have done to get some of them identified is to take cuttings of them to meetings of old rose enthusiasts, where they encouraged people to bring "mysterey roses" for identification. There were experts there who would try to identify them. Once you get some suggested names, you can look them up on "Hlep Me Find Roses" on the web, and see what you think yourself.

Pay also close attention to the appearance of the inflorescence and of the flower. The various classes are often most easily separated by those appearances. Hybrid teas and floribundas collectively look a certain way, likewise older roses.

Have you visited the Atlanta Botanical Garden (downtown)? They have a great collection of roses of all kinds, not just moderns.
You might want to also try to incorporate a Greater Atlanta Rose Society meeting there and show them pictures. Bobbie Reed is a lovely lady who is a Consulting Rosarian and who knows grows and loves Older roses. She's also on the Consulting Rosarian page at the link below.
