Prairie Sunrise is compact and fragrant, with a quality flower, easy to grow. Repeat is a bit slow for me.

Mountain Music---I've had this Dr. Buck rose for 4 yrs. & I'm thinking of moving it to a pot next spring because it never gets very big for me.

I would put Country Dancer in a pot. I would not put Honey Sweet, Golden Unicorn, Prairie Star, or Distant Drums in a pot.

It looks like Quietness and Earth Song will be too large also.

I have planted quite a few others this spring, but do not know how large they would get.

Of course a huge pot would hold any rose.

I have both in large pots waiting for their spot in the garden. Both are doing well. I love both.....Honeysweet has the most beautiful sunset peach/coral/pink coloration, very different and beautiful. Both are must haves for me!

Country Song & Joseph F. Lamb are both compact Buck roses. I don't recall either have a significant fragrance but then I probably don't have a great nose for scents.

Add Brook Song and Night Song to the list also.

You seem to have the biggest collection of Buck roses around. I'd appreciate your posting sometime your impressions of the blackspot resistance of various ones.

Our "Distant Drums" is well over 5 feet tall, but of upright habit.

I asked about these 2 because they're among the shorter Buck roses. Supposedly about 3' tall and not too wide. When I talk about potted roses, I mean 18 to 20" diameter; smaller for some of the minis. 20" is about my limit, because I DO want to be able to move them myself when I need to. Some Bucks I'd love to have but that I think would eventually get a bit too big (at least too wide) include Quietness, Hawkeye Belle, Distant Drums, and Paloma Blanca.

I'd also give Honeysweet a maybe. Mine has stayed small and would do fine in a pot, but I recall others on the forum in warmer zones stating it has grown larger than they had anticipated. The colors and fragrance are great. Lisa at Countryside Roses may be able to tell you how large some of the Buck roses grow in your region.

Yeah Mike, check with Lisa. She is getting more Bucks all the time, and she'll know what is good and not good for pots.

I grow Prairie Sunrise in a pot and really love it! I just keep the pot in our unheated garage in the winter and it's all ready to take off in the spring. My little granddaughter calls Prairie Sunrise our "Tootie Fruity" rose because it smells so sweet and fruity. Mine is very quick to rebloom. Ir's already on it's second round of blooms with just a two-week period between flushes.
