About me: My husband and I are retired educators (he taught science and I was an elementary school principal). We live in Northern Michigan near Lake Michigan and grow about 180 roses. We also have a small orchard with 55 fruit trees. Our children are grown and we have four grandchildren (Jarod, 15, Riley, 11, Isabel Rose -6 years old, Gloria, 2 year old). The girls live right around the corner. We take care of them 3 days a week while our daughter works. I love to travel, read, cook & bake, entertain, sew, sketch, hike, fish, canoe and write, as well as garden. My husband shares my love of gardens and is becoming an accomplished woodworker. I am a Master Gardener, a Consulting Rosarian, and am on the Northwest Michigan Botanical Garden Board (our group is beginning the fundraising process for stage one of the garden). I belong to the Cherry Capital Rose Society and have enjoyed those special people for a number of years. I edit our monthly newsletter, Rose Rap. Our group maintains a rose garden in the Children’s Garden at the Traverse City Main Library, featuring hardy, disease resistant roses. There are so many pleasures in gardening, but one of the greatest is the good people you meet and befriend. That includes the Forum!

Commented: Very depressing spring It is a challenging spring - we have a small orchard and have lost all our sweet and tart cherries, apricots and peaches. The hot March weather coaxed out the blooms way too early and the April night ...
