Belle Portugaise (Belle of Portugal) in the PNW?

Hello,

Has anyone in the Western WA area successfully grown Belle Portugaise, aka Bell of Portugal?

My DH was at the Sutter Home Winery in April and he brought home cuttings from the big ol' plant growing there. The cuttings rooted and we're really hoping it can handle it here. We're zone 8 to 8b, but California this isn't. I'd like to let it eat the west side of the house. It would get lots of afternoon sun, but it would be forced to deal with the wind in its face.

Here's a pic of the section of the house it could eat (that's the basement door):

and one of the mother plant at Sutter Home in Napa Valley, CA:

I'm really hoping for some good news here, but would rather not waste three years of my life if it's going to be a dud here.

Thanks!!!
