what is your most favorite floor in your home?
Comments (13)Some gorgeous floors shown above. I actually love all the floors in our home except the carpet in the bedrooms. That will some day be replaced with hardwood, but with all the other floors (hardwood, marble and ceramic tile) that needed to be installed, by my hubby, he wanted a break and had carpet installed. I guess the pattern and the veining on this marble combo would be my favorite. More so because it was one of those happy surprises that come from a goof. The was the first flooring we'd purchased and didn't think to buy extra. We knew better, just didn't do it. HoDe was out of the premixed mortar that hubby had used for other tiles he'd laid and was happy with, so I talked him into mixing his own. How hard could it be, right? Well we heard later that the type we chose is even a bit tough for the pros to always get right. Some of the tiles loosened and broke when walked on. We searched high and low for matching marble to no avail. Then I saw the darker tile at Lowe's and thought we should take some home and see if in our lighting they worked well together. Hubby wanted to just replace them all, but once we found a way to lay them out, after he carefully removed the original tiles, he loved it. Here it is.... Comments (81)Love all your rooms inside and out! Here are mine. Our DIY kitchen that we are still working on( DH rather) and our front porch. I used the painters tarp and grommet ideas for curtains for the porch so now we can sit and watch the storm.I call it the "biggest little porch in town" You are looking at the whole thing in the photo, there ain't no more. But it is big enough for 3 to sit and the 2 dogs can lie on the porch with us. We have our morning coffee outside after our walks. I included photos from May when I had painted the free CL loveseat and made pillows so you could see the colors in a better light. I am just using grosgrain ribbon right now, I plan to make tiebacks out of the stripe canvas. Of course the roses arent blooming like that now....See MoreWhat is your favorite blogger's house tour?
Comments (22)I've never heard of most of these blogs, but went to see the HoH house. It does read like catalog, but more Grandinroad than Pottery Barn. Love the home of Brooke (Velvet & Linen), but I only click on her blog a few times a year to catch up. I enjoy the humor of Victoria Elizabeth Barnes and try to check on hers twice a month. I'm with Tinam. Many of the bloggers are paid and/or get free items from various sources to actually do things to their houses. Those that are good at it - like Miss Mustard Seed - end up with contracts or TV shows (Pioneer Woman). I used to check MMS on occasion but find I don't have the time to read blogs, and when I did, I didn't find them very interesting. I don't want to know how to do a tablescape, decopauge or watch them unpack a desk chair (I kid you not!). Atticmag founder Jane (Rococogurl @GW) reached out to me via GW to feature my kitchen, which led to me writing for Atticmag for a few years. She later featured my home. We posted something from our own houses maybe a few times a year - if we were doing something worth showing readers. Would I want to blog? No. Did I like writing about something going on at my house or DD2, as it is quicker/easier for me to write about! I only wish I had been writing for AM when DD1 was living in San Francisco since she had/has great taste!...See MoreWhat is Your Favorite Home Decorating Discussion Title
Comments (7)DAT = "Design around this" They were sort of hypothetical decorating genres or challenges for which interested participants would create a mood board and explain their design concept. Cawaps and Pal did a lot, iirc. http://ths.gardenweb.com/discussions/2407228/about-the-design-around-this-threads...See Moreroseseek
