The best, most versatile sprinkler I have ever had is the Gardena Aquazoom 3800. It is adjustable in width and length as well as water volume. It can do full, one end, or center. It has huge coverage. It's timer is not dependent on water pressure so it shuts off when you want it to. Can use a quick coupling or regular hose connection. On the other deal...A sprinkler system built on top of the ground is a lot of trouble and a real eyesore. Been there and done that. I would rather move my sprinkler if I have to. Thanks Turf- My Dad has a largish compressor with a decent size tank. I am also thinking about adding an in line drain. I will only have one zone buried with 2 or 3 Hunter PGP heads. There is a slight grade over that area. I plan on installing a lateral line drain at the low point. (draining to into a french pit - and my soil is on the sandy side). These drains are closed with a psi >5, when the pressure drops they drain slowly. This question is for Turf or anyone else who made a custon underground system. I think I will only get the pipe 6-8 inches deep.

Thanks reeljake. You're the one that let told me about Ocean Harvest, thanks for the recommendation! It really does have instant results. My lawn is looking a nice shade of dark green today, darker than all of my neighbors. I put down Microlife multipurpose fertilizer as well to try it out, though too early to see any results. I will watch it and water when it seems dry. I didn't want to overwater and end up with a fungus, or not water enough and kill a big part of my lawn.

Will try again with pictures. I dug down so that a brick could be put under the pipe and the pipe would be below the level of the sod. Outward to that I lay two bricks side by side against the fist brick to expand the floor. At the end of those two bricks I laid a couple of more bricks so the floor is about 3 bricks long. Starting at the pipe I laid a brick on each side of the pipe, creating a walls around the first brick, I laid two more bricks to create walls for the two floor bricks, so that the spill way expands as it gets further from the pipe. I just left the last bricks to lengthen the floor without walls. This is a work in progress and it has been so hot I have not mowed the yard in a week, but I think you can see what the intent is. As you can see in the second picture it is nearly invisible. and completely disappears from the house. (No comments on the quality of the grass. It is green and I have worked hard to get this to grow in the Carolina clay. ;-)
